✤ ✤ ✤

The younger of the ember twins, Pearsal is a deceiving, dangerous dragon whose only loyalties are to Nyx and Imriel.

The little brother of the fearsome Imriel, Pearsal is often overshadowed by the raging frostfire of his older brother. However, in his line of work, he much prefers the lack of attention and enemies that usually come with the territory. Nevertheless, he should never be underestimated in the slightest. Some say he is more deadly than even his brother. Possessing a genius mind, a silver tongue, and priceless information at his fingertips, Pearsal is a dragon to be feared. Make no mistake, his mask of friendliness and mischievousness is nothing more than a farce, as behind closed doors he coaxes information and secrets out from even the most stubborn of dragons. Poisons, hidden alliances, blackmail, all of it falls under his control.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Pearsal hummed to himself, a small smile tugging at his lips as he examined a set of knives with a critical eye. The unconscious body of a wildclaw dragon behind him was stirring, limbs weighed down by steel shackles that were welded solidly to the dungeon walls behind them. He paid no heed to the shifting body, delicate hands reaching out and plucking a particular knife from his vast collection. As the dragon behind him finally regained consciousness, Pearsal stalked around them, blue eyes glittering like diamonds in the shadows thrown across the room. A single candle illuminated the scene, weeping wounds and gaping slashes contrasting perfect sunset scales that reflected the light.

"So kind of you to join me! I was beginning to think that you were never going to wake up." Pearsal grinned, flicking the knife into the air and catching it deftly. His friendly tone didn't quite match the sinister look in his eyes, blue slits regarding the captured dragon as prey. As he drew closer, one hand reaching out to twist the head of the dragon closer, the other suddenly snapped their head towards the hand, fangs bared. Without so much as a huff Pearsal harshly grabbed the offending mouth, slamming a muzzle into place and roughly grabbing the other by the throat and slamming their head so hard into the wall their eyes rattled.

"Did you think you could attempt to assassinate the Southern Imperator successfully? You must be naive." Pearsal crooned, knife dancing dangerously close to the exposed neck of his victim. Any struggles were quickly halted by the knife, the gleaming point gently cutting off tufts of fur from the underbelly. "Nyx has kindly allowed me to deal with you, as a gift of sorts. Says it's a reward for not terrifying the population of prisoners for the past week." His laugh echoed hauntingly through the chamber, punctuated by the sound of distantly howling winds.

"I'll give you the chance to speak, as I'm interested in what a wildclaw is doing so far North. Who sent you here?"

The wildclaw stayed silent, hateful eyes glaring into Pearsal's own collected ones. Their claws were tightened into fists, body tense, as if bracing themselves for whatever the other had in store for them. Their eyebrows furrowed in confusion as Pearsal let out a wild laugh, doubling over and wiping a tear away from his eyes.

"Oh, how adorable. If you want to play the silent game, be my guest. I'll have more fun if you do!"

-

The candle had melted down into a puddle of wax by the time Pearsal left the cell.
