Biography
The eccentric historian.
Val was born with a multigaze mutation, and from a young age he grew attached to the idea, from the myths his parents read to him, that everyone had a destiny. And his, obviously, was to see things that others could not.
He'd always loved to read, myth and history alike--and really, in Sornieth, the two blurred quite a bit--and could often be found throughout his adolescence sprawled amidst a nest of open books, training his eyes to read them all at once.
When he grew old enough to leave his clan, Val spent many long hours in the vast libraries of Earth and Light, seen as something as an informal apprentice by the librarians and philosphers who would sometimes deign to give him a few precious moments of their time.
As he delved deeper and deeper into the lore of Sornieth, Val came up with more questions than answers. Where had the deites come from? Why only the Eleven? Why were they in the shape of dragons, not beasts or stars or some amorphous being, like the Shade?
He sought out answers until there were no more to find in the libraries, and then turned elsewhere.
Val dug through Sornieth, his many eyes seeking out the old, forgotten things; strange elder dragons--Althea, for example--drowned tomes, nonsense sigils, overgrown alters--and there, Val found evidence of other worship.
He knows they are long gone from Sornieth, their masses of worshippers depleted; dead, sleeping, or turned instead to the powerful Eleven. But he believes. He will compile their stories, learn of their rituals, and let the world see its forgotten histories, no matter what powers warn him away.
