Mahariel

The Mahariel family belongs to the Sabrae clan of Dalish elves which is lead by Keeper Marethari



The patriarch of the Mahariel family was the former Keeper of the Sabrae clan prior to Marethari. He fell in love with a hunter from another clan. The match was met with disapproval from the elders, and the lovers had to meet in secret. The pair's joy was short-lived. Before their young baby was born, the two of them were ambushed and attacked by a group of humans and city elves. The Keeper was killed outright and his lover was wounded. She lived long enough to give birth to the Dalish Elf and soon after disappeared in grief. From then on, Ashalle took over the care of Mahariel as their guardian.

In the summer of 8:82 Blessed, the Sabrae clan resided in a remote part of the Frostback Mountains. When the winter came, a group of Avvar warriors attacked the camp, killing more than a dozen members of the clan, including the Second, Sarel, and gravely wounding the Keeper. Marethari Talas, First to the Keeper, ordered her clan into the lowlands, while she entered a forest where a Witch of the Wilds was said to be found. It is unknown whether Marethari made contact with the Witch, but she reunited with her clan a few days later. Shortly after, the Keeper died, and Marethari took leadership of the clan.
