One of the seven immortals. Velvetine (or Velvet for short) was born on the coast, but left her sheltered household almost as soon as she could, driven away by transphobic parents and a desire to see the world. She was already full of curiosity and excitement, even then-- she had been stiffled before, but now she was free. She wanted to learn, to see and experience everything she possibly could in her lifetime. When she encountered the faceless god and was granted immortality, she was happy!! And she stayed happy, for a very long time. Discovering the truth of how things worked didn't drain the magic from them, not like a part of her had worried it might. And she had all the time in the world to discover everything she could. She took her time and savored her journeys, until one day she met the love of her life.
Celine wasn't a dragon-- rather, she was a powerful fairy, and a member of the Beastclans. More specifically, one of Talona's seven generals. She was immortal, just like Velvetine. However, she Velvetine started off as bitter enemies. At least, at first. After a disastrous battle left them stranded and injured, the two were forced to work together to survive. Velvet discovered something she had previously overlooked, despite all of her travels and studies-- the beastclans weren't cruel villains, but people in their own right. Eventually they became friends, and then later, they fell in love. As a courting gift, Celine used her magic to transform Velvet's wings into those of a butterfly. In all of her adventures, Velvetine had never felt such wonder as she did just seeing Celine smile. But unfortunately, their happiness couldn't last. Celine was immortal in that she was ageless, but that didn't mean she couldn't be killed. Another dragon, the general of the opposing army, managed to fell Celine in battle. And Velvetine's love for the world died with her. |
