Biography
I rose with the dawn, it's a shame I never got to see the sun set...
Riser, The guardian of a bandit clan.
Riser's charge were the dragons of the Brood a small clan of dedicated dragons. He traveled across Sornieth gathering his many charges and gave them a place in the clan.
He died some time after Cross left for his vengeance but before he returned from his soul-searching.
. .When Rorter had told him about the aimlessness he'd felt wandering Sornieth with nothing to do and nowhere to go, something about that conversation had sparked a feeling in his chest. Like the a gasp of air after nearly drowning, like the feeling of flying for the first time. His head felt clearer than it had been for a long time up in the clouds with that young Obelisk, but he didn't know why.
. .It was later, when he was at a small gathering, that he overheard Guardians talking about the how they felt once finding their charge. They described it as he had felt it, and he knew, just knew he would have to find that Obelisk again. How could he have been so blind? So ignorant of what he was feeling? What else had he missed? Curious to know more he joined the Guardians and listened to them.
. . What he learned was minimal in the end, but experiences in the group resonated with him. One had not known they saw their charge and had gotten sick a day after. Another had piped up that they had two charges, and being away from one was fine as long as the other was close by. There was a legend of a Guardian who never found their charge and haunts the land stealing charges right from under your nose. A seed of doubt flickered in his mind that maybe he had no charge, but the elation he'd felt talking with Rorter quickly quashed the feeling. He did have a charge, maybe multiple, he'd felt that clearness of his mind before. He had to find them, all of them.
. .Months after discovering his strange charges, he had found two of them. Twin ridgebacks, shivering in the snow at the edge of a forest. He instantly felt a pull to them and well informed of the feeling he gently called for them, offering a place under his wings to shield from the biting frost. They gratefully accepted, and in their bounds over to him he knew they couldn't have been older than 3 years with their gangly limbs and thin necks. With them now walking beside him he felt more alive than ever, the warmth of a new family was fluttering inside him. Maybe this is what he's for, helping lost souls...
. .Chariot and Blister were doing tricks in the snowfall, the young ridgebacks knowing exactly how to make the best of the good weather. Their small clan grew a bit more with the addition of newly hatched mirror named Reckless and his old friend Pathion, who were closer making snow dragons near the cabin. Riser had been feeling better than ever before, the weariness he'd thought was just him getting old went away and it was like he was a hatching again.
. . He'd found Rorter on a vacation to the Churnscar Wharf and the young obelisk was delighted to see him, an expression that he mirrored. Rorter talked about his studies, how they've taken him all over the world and met the growing dragonettes who pestered him for stories.
