Tossed around from lair to lair, never being given the chance to settle down. She had no home and no name. Her family was always on the move, always trying to escape...something, a dark shadow that haunted her mother and father, but one that she could never see.

Her parents left her with different Clans - as a hatchling, she was left to a fae nurse, who turned her out when she grew too big (not long for a guardian). She wandered aimlessly until they caught up to her again, just long enough to find another Clan that would reluctantly take her in. None of them knew her, but dragons are kind, it's just that anyone's kindness can wear thin with too many mouths to feed and not enough food, right? She was a poor hunter; nobody had ever taught her how. Prey seemed to escape her, as though something always pulled it away at the last moment.

Most days were occupied only by wondering, idly, where she'd eat and sleep next. There was little point in even asking; it was out of her hands, unless she wanted to sleep in the open and eat only grass. The shunting from Clan to Clan, sanctuary to sanctuary, continued.

Bitter days came, as unshakable as dark clouds. Why am I here, she wondered, if nobody wants me anyway. She had no skills to be of use to anyone. If the Beastclans come take me next, I won't feel any differently about it. Maybe even they wouldn't want me.

It was hardly a will to change what was to come - just a dark, black, suffocating apathy towards it all. Why had her parents had hatchlings, anyway?
