Biography

quiet butterfly with a sad past

natureshieldl.png

Succesor of Nature
Mustache Moth Strangler Pine Branch

Butterflies are truly wondrous creatures. They are delicate, and pretty, but could easily be poisonous and leave a nasty aftertaste. They flew freely, and lived shortly, and thus they never seemed to worry about anything. Such peaceful insects… and yet, no one would allow them to live their peaceful lives to the fullest. Even if some were poisonous, that was no repellent to a dragon- they could feast upon as many butterflies as they’d like, and the poor species would have no way to stop it.

Tragic, the Veilspun laments, looking from up her perch on a branch. What a sad existence. And yet, I can still say that I relate.

RELATIONSHIPS

PIERIDAE
"...A wonderful teacher. I’m certain she’ll lead me to all I need to know."

Out of all the mentor/successor pairs of the Union, Pieridae and Ameloren seem to be the most mysterious. Though it’s clear from even brief observation that the two hold deep respect for each other, nobody outside of themselves really know what they do out in those forests. However, Ameloren considers Pieridae as a mentor who can teach her to be stronger - to never fear for herself or her loved ones again. How they met is irrevelant, for what matters to her is the future Pieridae will teach her how to latch onto.

CYCLAMEN
"...He sings to me so softly, and the flowers he grows for me are so very beautiful. I could not ask for better."

Perhaps undeniably strange is the relationship between the two greatly contrasting Veilspuns, both Ameloren and Cyclamen. To most, it would be thought that the latter was nowhere near Ameloren’s league, or even type; most who knew him was aware of how lazy he seemed, not to mention sleazy, and his droopy demeanor couldn’t at all compare to Ameloren’s beauty. All of these misconceptions Ameloren would denounce with a few choice words, for she adores the other Veilspun strongly, having chosen him as her mate, and she’s as protective over this decision as she is of him. It was Cyclamen, afterall, who showed her his garden; who helped her see the beauty in the little things again. Though she had wanted to deny it at first, her feelings for the other was hard to just tuck away, as she had grown used to doing with her emotions, for like the rest of them, Cyclamen had come to bring them gently out of her, letting her seek comfort in him as comfortably as possible. For this, she sees him as her eternal other half; her mate, for however long they remained on the shallow earth.

MONARCH
"...She’s very intelligent. I wish she came home for dinner more.”

Like with all of her children, Ameloren adores her daughter with all her heart - even if she doesn’t adore her occupation choice. This isn’t because she believes Monarch is doing anything wrong - no, she’s free to make any decision she pleases in that regard. Rather, it’s more because of how dangerous a traveling’s merchant’s job can be, and what Ameloren would do if she ever lost a hatchling of her own regard. Monarch tries to pacify this by sending her frequent letters, but that doesn’t seem to quell Ameloren’s anxiety too much. Though she loves Cyclamen with all her heart, she still can’t help but wish some of their offspring hadn’t inherited certain habits from him.

SULPHUR
"...If he wants me to provide him food, he should be arriving home on time.”

Though Ameloren also loves her son, she portrays a totally different attitude with him then the one she has for Monarch. Sulphur, born and raised a papa’s boy, has grown spoiled and content with laziness, hardly pushing with his tries at business, and Ameloren is very critical about this. Though she makes regular pushes for Sulphur to try doing “proper hard work” whenever she talks to him, this has only seemed to result in Sulphur avoiding having conversation with her. Though this hurts her, she won’t stop this approach; she wants the utmost best for her sun, and it’s because she loves him that she won’t stop trying to get to him. The one pro is that she rarely has to worry about his safety, since he spends most of his time lounging around the Union’s buildings.
Strangler
STRANGLER
"...Are you hungry again? Let’s go looking for prey together, then.”

The Strangler has been with Ameloren for a very long time. Though they only see each other once a year, Ameloren always accompanies the other for week-long prey hunts where they have friendly competition for the most kills. The reason why Ameloren spends so much time sleeping around soil, is so in case of an early wakening, the Strangler can find its way back to her.
