Biography

9th child of hate, born of Revenge and Distrust. A Misfit among her blood born peers. She's quiet, scared, storyline filled with wars of gore.

A misfit born and raised in this terrible war, hatching out of the smallest egg. Yet scared of small spaces, scared of everything it seems... aside from the frolicking birds. The skittering of mice bring her heart alight with joy. Calls of ravens ringing such sacred delight. How she only could hold onto it for a moment longer...

Maybe, she won't be such a misfit elsewhere.

Arcanic runes scribed in languages not understood by the majority whole decorated the ever-towering sculptures. Shimmering in bright and oh so lovely pink colors, from soft lavender fields to cherry delight. Ever-changing symbols kept undecided with their objectionable meaning of reality. Untouchable, to only be perceived through sensory input, or at least that seemed to be the case.

Misfit could only grasp the surface in their well of knowledge, a comforting but unknowable depth where even claws as sharp as hers could not pierce the surface pressure. Meaning behind each runes, the stories, the magic, all freely being shown yet never to be truly understood. Like the mention of intent behind a poet's poems, a captain's call, or a beast's beckoning, the intention was for them to feel, the runic words seem to only muddle the intent.

Misfit let loose a small rumble of content glee, she has seen many a scholar poor days over a single image yet find themselves twisted in its ever complexity. But she, while curious as any other, found no reason to dig deeper. Stories of a raving king, sorrowful death, or a blighted warden. Tales told in their titles but never in lore, enough to make a bookkeeper go wild but Misfit was contented in their mystery.

"Back along this glade, Outcasted One?"

Misfits head twitched at that voice, a sound of gravel grinding along sandpaper mixed with the sound of windchimes along a deserts breeze. Wispy and echoed, but alight with clinging femininity. It was Depraved! Oh, what joy, she adored her sister so. She was sweet yet rustic in tone and abnormality, choosing to make her home deep in the runic glade surrounding the observatory then inside the clans hollows.
Depraved did make her reasoning clear, though despite her warnings Misfit couldn't help but to stop by when in a mood of insatiable wanderlust. A cardinal desire to roam, to be a seeking outcast of!-

...of?

Of nothing, she mentally reminded herself. A spiraling thought, that's all, after all, Depraved was right in front of her! Mister Seth said it was rude to keep a friend waiting, did that extend to family?

"I was just watching the runes change! They're quite pretty, don't you think?"

She replied, her voice light as dandelion fluff set to be taken afloat by a winters breeze and soft soaring feathers. Misfit could remember the first time she came here with equal parts clarity and fog, were Depraved tried to tell her the stories the runes spoke about. About a ruined king, tortuous death, and a pale warden. But she couldn't remember much about them, though Depraved assured her she didn't miss much.

It was strange though, but Misfit would be content. Content with her clan, her family, her hollow. Finding out Depraved was family wasn't difficult, their scales ever matched and even then, Depraved had confirmed it herself. Speaking of a nest of rot, eggs hatching long before their parents were even born. The madness that came with those tainted shells. But Misfit wasn't insane, she was content. She was-

Further pondering was cut off by an amused huff from the boney thin yet slender dragoness across from her.

"Again huh? Don't tell me you're trying to become a runic scholar- these circles ar-"

"Are insolvable! I know sis- hehe. But you solved them, didn't you?"

Misfit said with a light chirp, her mind whipping around to focus on the conversation. To make glee in the face of despair.
Depraved only let loose a low chuckle, inviting Misfit closer with a flare of her tattered wing. In which she needed no more convincing to bundle up against her sister's hide like a rabbit into its burrow.

"Now now, I told you I didn't solve them, hadn't I? Reading the pages on another's book isn't quite solving any mystery."

"I knowww..."

Misfit said with a long whine, ending in a small chirp as it closed into a kitten like yawn. Causing her to rumble in embarrassment and Depraved in familial adoration.

"Would you like me to tell you another story Outcasted One?"

Misfit hid her frown at the title as she nodded against Depraved's arm. The imperial had started calling her that in fear that the 'hurtful name' would drive her away. In truth she didn't mind her name, it was a name and it was hers. Whether it was good or bad, it didn't change her. But she didn't speak out about the uncomfortable titles, perhaps in hypocrisy, she didn't want her to hurt her sister either.
Depraved rumbled in her own small enjoyment as she looked up to the nearest rune.

"Ahh here's a interesting one, this one tells of the joyful fungus. Now they were born not so long, long ago..."

Depraved began to translate the tale on the ever-updating scripture, and as she did, Misfit's mind wandered from her senses. The ground was cold and numb, the air was scentless, her tongue lay heavy with lead, her eyes seeing nothing, her ears ringing with catonic bells. Never beginning, never ending. Her thoughts traveled to her beginning, this always happened when her sister would tell her the stories written within the runes. It wasn't unpleasant, but it was strange. Trying to see a beginning that she couldn't remember, to see a start that felt like it never happened.

All she could remember was a face like her covered in scars, and a face like her sisters covered in wrinkles. Slimly eggshell tightly clasped around her neck and acid burning at her lungs. Egg bound, a bad omen another clan member once told her. She doesn't remember what happened after that, only the fresh snow she had once seen falling years after. Stinging flayed leather and scales in curious but unpleasant pain. She didn't know what happened.

But that's okay, because she isn't insane.

Misfit was content.
