Of Lord Jetsam's vast number of progeny, Tempest was one of the Water Lord's middle children, just a few seasons older than the Headhunter twin Princes, Aziz and Arsu. Though he was only one of seventy-six pups born between Lord Jetsam and his wives, he distinguished himself early on a a fierce warrior, surpassing even several of his older brothers to earn the favor of his father and the love of his people. Though the political atmosphere was always tense, many whispered how they desired for the young Krait Prince to become the next Lord upon Jetsam's passing.
While the Headhunters Hollo and Ophellia hosted a grand gathering of clans in the Ashfall Wastes with the purpose of finding mates for their sons, Tempest, attending it with several members of his family, saw fit to insult Aziz's beaked genetics and begin the heated rivalry between the two. As Aziz turned his greedy gaze to Tempest's broodsister, Sebae, the rust-hued coatl quickly rose to the defense of his sister through combat. But his defeat not only resulted in the loss of his sister, but of his eye, replaced by a festering scar left behind by a Plague-infected blade from Aziz.
As Tempest struggled to fight off the infection in the infirmary and Sebae endured her new life under Aziz, his father made several rebuked advances upon the Headhunter Queen, Ophellia. His salacious implications earned him a horrible death as Hollo grabbed Lord Jetsam and tossed his body into a nearby flow of lava.
Upon hearing of how the Headhunter had violated the sacred law upon neutral ground and becoming immediately aware of the political vacuum in the Krait Empire, Tempest had little choice beyond abandoning his sister and taking the rest of the family back to their home in the Sea of a Thousand Currents. With strict cunning and ferocity, Tempest was able to bully and subdue all opposition, backed by a number of his own supporters, and was quickly coronated as the new Lord. But war and revenge swam deeply in the coatl's very being, and once the brief civil war was crushed, he began ruthlessly expanding his Empire, indoctrinating other tribes and clans into his armies.
Now ruler of a empire as vast as a sea, the Emperor of the Kraits has turned his attention towards the Scarred Wasteland, to the Headhunter Clan....
