Balfour God of Knowlegde  pronouns "I just don't understand what's going on." "Well I understand that if you don't stop pacing you're going to have to clean something up." Balfour came to a halt, throwing an indiscernible glance at the veilspun. "Are you going to tell me why your crazy arcane magic is making my scales look like that music nerd who hangs out in the garden or am I gonna have to ask the other scientist?" Xey snapped at him. "Don't leave," The guardian almost pleaded. "The garden... I know how to figure this out!" Sion rolled xyr eyes, mumbling something about how long that took. Xey caught the edge of Balfour's wing as he walked out the door, hitching a ride on the larger dragon on the way to the garden. He stopped right outside the entrance and unloaded various tools from his bag, all of which seemed much too large and much too nerdy for the veilspun to care about. Balfour held up a strange device, becoming lost in thought as he watched the needle swing wildly between the numbers. "Well?" Sion demanded. The garden always put xem on edge, although xey'd sooner let the scientist crush xem than show xyr fear. "I was thinking about it all wrong. Arcane magic isn't the thing experiencing anomalies. It's staying constant while this entire plane of existence is experiencing disruptions the likes of which have never been documented before!" The veilspun huffed, "Translate, nerd." He sent another inexplicable look at xem before explaining, "Imagine an earthquake, but instead of the ground shaking, time is shaking. Which could be very bad for the survival of dragonkind. And arcane magic isn't affected because it doesn't exist in this dimension to begin with." "How can you use the magic then?" "As all arcane dragons know, the Arcanist was brought here from another dimension, so all of his descendants, like me, can access the magic from that dimension." At Sion's unimpressed face, he clarified further. "Pretend magic is food. You're a shadow dragon, so you carry food with you. When you get hungry, you already have it. I'm an arcane dragon, so I have to reach into the pantry and grab some before I can eat it. That's why arcane magic is slower but stronger than the other elements." |
