Have you ever noticed how as you grow up, some things that used to bring you comfort are… unsettling now? That calm spot in the forest where you could sit and read for hours feeling peaceful, could turn into something too silent to be normal. That stuffed animal you couldn’t sleep without when you were a child grew more and more ragged and disturbing looking as time passed.
That nursery rhyme suddenly has a hidden, darker meaning- one you now understand and cannot unhear whenever young hatchlings sing it. Colorful scribbles turn disturbing as those younger explain about their ‘imaginary friend’.
It’s her influence.
She’s willing to protect you- willing to give you the safety you so desperately crave, the peace and quiet you need, but there’s a price.
Whatever she gives that brings you comfort, will turn into something unnerving with time. Whatever she provides that makes you happy, will become something twisted and dark. Whatever calms you down, will grow to be something terrifying.
