Biography
Clan historian: Researcher and Hatchling caretaker
Pronouns: she/her
Pronouns: she/her
For a long time Ruby was alone.
She felt the call, and knew the clan would come for her, but she also knew what it meant to be called by such a powerful crystal. Since the moment she heard it she learned as much as she could. On her own she came about the tale of the curse, which many clans believed to be a horrible fairytale, but she knew it was true.
And so she wandered for some time, coming to realize the call of a powerful crystal such as Ruby meant she was not just a called one, but one of the predestined; The ones who were cursed to fight a never ending losing battle with a mind far more vast and omniscient than their own.
She told herself she wasn't running as she moved all over, never in one place for long, merely delaying her inevitable homecoming to learn all she could first. As she aged however, and felt the pull so intensely it kept her awake at night, she soon realized she may only be making it worse.
One night, on the verge of her departure to the wandering rock clan, she woke surrounded by them, sparkling red voices calling to her. She had come too close to their homeland, earth. They crept in on her so swiftly, the moment she turned her head they came another foot. Afraid and in a panic she tried to jump past them, but they caught her the moment she turned, creeping so swiftly up to her shoulders and chest she was anchored by them before she could escape.
For some time she struggled, they first enveloped her chest, her heart, creeping up her neck and digging into her skin as their whispers grew to screams. But as they reached her head, she heard other voices. At first she thought it was merely the crystals, trying to confuse her, but then three dragons came into her view. Sepal, Aquamarine and Veszelyte had come to her, sensing her willingness to come to the call, and finding her as it came to her.
They clawed her free, ripping the rubies from her as they shrieked, and leaving scars across her shoulders where they had grown the deepest.
She came willingly with them then. From Veszelyte, Sepal and Emerald she learned and continues to learn how to keep them at bay. The scars on her serve as a sore reminder that denial was not the answer, and might have otherwise been her demise.
