Biography

As a child, Rendezvous struggled to understand the events unfolding around him. Growing up in the Starfall Isles, he had parents who loved him dearly. However, the previous affiliations with their more conservative kin in the Southern Icefield led to drama within the family. The father wanted to stay in the Starfall Isles whereas the mother wanted to go back south to give Rendezvous a "proper upbringing" among other Gaolers. Both of them had good intentions, with the father hoping to raise their son in a different environment than the strict, ruthless ways of traditional Gaolers. The mother felt like their son would grow up strong and be taught proper values by their kin. These differing standpoints led to arguments, and Rendezvous felt trapped whenever he saw them fight. He was never threatened by them, but he always felt so helpless when he failed to break up the arguments.

When both of his parents weren't in the same room, they treated him with kindness and nurtured him. If the other parent was mentioned, they would be a little upset, but they didn't take it out on Rendezvous most of the time. When they were together, oftentimes nothing good came out of it. It would start off alright until one of them got ticked off by something the other said, escalating until a full-blown argument began. Sometimes Rendezvous thought their animosity against each other was his fault, but they frequently told him that wasn't the case. He found that hard to believe, though, and began trying to find ways to help them stop fighting and get along.

He suggested having them talk things out by holding a meeting in the living room and letting them discuss their issues. At first, he thought he could act as the mediator and help them. Sadly, it quickly became evident that he couldn't help them, and he wasn't old enough to understand. With his father's more assertive attitude and his mother's interrupting, though, it didn't take long for the two to start bickering. It would result in either his father getting annoyed after being interrupted one too many times, or his mother saying that he sounded angry. One of them would complain, the other would get defensive, and it would go from there. The young Gaoler had no idea how to prevent that from happening, and he hated having no power in this situation. All he could do was watch them fight when they were together.

After a couple of years, Rendezvous' parents finally came to the conclusion that they'd be better off separated. They simply weren't getting anywhere, and everybody in the home was miserable. Throughout his adolescent years, the young Gaoler mostly stayed with his mother, visiting his father fairly often after he found another place to stay. At first his mother considered going to the Southern Icefield, but she decided to stay when she saw how upset her son was at the idea of being too far away from his father. Whenever Rendezvous spent time with either of them, he slowly learned why the two resented each other so much. Not only was the drama within the family troublesome, but it brought out the worst of them until they just couldn't handle it anymore. While he was saddened by them being separated, he slowly accepted that it's better than hearing them argue over and over again. It was difficult to adjust to switching between staying with one parent and the other, but he managed. That's how his life was until he got older and was able to go out on his own. A part of him hoped his parents could sort out their differences someday, but that was entirely up to them.

Now, Rendezvous resides in the Eastern City of the Midnight Seclusion as an unofficial relationship counselor for his peers. He learned quite a bit growing up and witnessing issues in relationships firsthand. Whenever he hears about similar problems, especially when younger dragons are exposed to it, he is more than happy to help where he's needed. He doesn't want anybody else to have that same helpless and lost feeling, knowing that the people he loved were upset and there was nothing he could do. Rendezvous makes sure to emphasize that there will always be two sides in disagreements, no matter which one someone chooses to go with. He tries to take a neutral standpoint and be a mediator, keeping things civil when having anybody in a relationship discuss their problems with one another. Sometimes the relationship has a falling out, and Rendezvous understands that. Both parties need to make a mutual effort if they truly want things to work between them. That's what he aims to do; help them recognize whether or not a relationship is worth saving, and guide them towards a compromise. It's a learning experience for everybody, and Rendezvous encourages his peers to at least try and not give up easily.

His attitudes have made him an admired figure in his community. He's often the dragon to go to when there's problems. Rendezvous isn't a matchmaker; he's better at assisting others when times are rough and repairing a relationship as much as they can. No matter the result, his help has always been cherished by others and he's helped them learn something and has pointed out things they didn't notice before.

It's always important to allow things to heal, and if love has to be forced it may not be worth it. But if it's someone you're truly bonded to, he believes that it's worth trying to come up with solutions. Even if things look dark, you never know how it could turn out. Just give it a chance. Be patient, and then decide how you want to handle it. Sometimes it's worth saving things in the long run.
