Biography
Name: Ningen Status: Elemental Messenger |
"It takes a clever soul to ground a lightning bolt, and that witch is far too clever for her own good."
Everyone knows the Wind Flight for its messengers, dozens of sprites and elementals ferrying word across all of Sornieth. And for the most part, the other gods are content with compromising with the Windsinger, but not always. Ningen is the result of such discontent, a lightning elemental tasked with delivering messages The Stormcatcher would rather keep away from prying eyes and loose lips.
Of course such a duty is not without its dangers, as the minions of the Windcatcher don't take that keenly to rival spirits intruding into their domain. This was how Ningen found himself injured and alone on the edge of The Viridian Labyrinth, missives scattered to the winds, and his only comfort the company of a Banescale willing to shelter him from his own storm.
By the time Ningen was able to journey to collect his lost message, he had already begun to fall in love with Mosasaur, and their time on the road together only solidified it. He loved how she was apart from the struggles of dominance and prestige Ningen had known his entire life, how she had the patience he could never cultivate. It was a shame his love for her would be his downfall.
When the last page of Ningen's scattered papers had been collected, and delivered to a diminutive fae in the depths of The Foxfire Brambles, their contents revealed a deal Ningen had never been aware of. Collecting on an old favor, Penumbra was to be assigned a lightning spirit to aid her clan in it's daily affairs. Ningen had refused Penumbra's "invitation", obviously, but that didn't matter, because Mosasaur had accepted. And why wouldn't she, The Clan of Glowing Night was by all accounts a lovely place, exactly the kind of quiet life Mosasaur deserved.
If Ningen is on a leash, it appears it's quite a long one, as Penumbra still allows him to travel across the continent to delivery The Stormcatcher's word. The shadow dragon has no need to order Ningen to stay, not when she has his heart in her hands.
