Kelenken has a very soft voice. For much of her early life, she didn't speak at all. As soon as she was able to understand the concept of "good" and "bad", she was laser-focused on being absolutely perfect in everything she did. The first time her grammar was corrected, she refused to speak at all because she couldn't stand the thought of saying something incorrectly. In her eyes, better to not express yourself at all than to be misunderstood.

She warmed up a little bit in her adulthood but it took years to unlearn the mindset she had built up for herself and her silence had taken a physical toll. Her vocal chords were extremely weak and speaking above a whisper is physically painful. To make up for this, her familiar is able to make calls that approximate dragon language for times when she is unable or unwilling to speak for herself.
