Biography

Double midnight is a great color (I'm completely biased, I have two of them in my lair) because it gives you a dark shade of almost black, but while obsidian iri/shim has a tendency to pick up green highlights that a lot of people dislike, it stays pretty consistent. That makes his colors a much better base for the brightly illuminated tertiary/accent combo you've given him. Since midnight isn't black but a very dark shade of blue, accenting him with lighter shades of blue complements it, and the warm yellow against its cool tones contrasts it. This makes for a color scheme with a lot of visual interest. His sky smoke looks especially light against his dark midnight and the cyan of his accent, so that it almost looks white, providing little spirals of paleness against his dark and bright colors. The yellow and cyan lights the accent gives him show up so brightly against his dark midnight coloration that you can really see every little detail and highlight. The way it leaves tricolored streaks of midnight, cyan, and yellow in his mane looks especially cool, as do the stripes that run up his horns. His purple shadow eyes are a nice little finishing touch, since they're dark enough that they would normally blend into his midnight primary, but the light smoke striping surrounds them like eyeliner and makes them stand out, for a nice little layer of dark to light to dark.
