“You are no longer one of us!! Get out and never come back you devil!!”

Words echoed in his mind as he stomped out of the town, blood covering his fists and clothes, teary eyes fueled by anger, as he walked and the crowd departed quickly, leaving a path for the beast to pass by with no return.
He was nothing but trouble. Only trouble. He brewed chaos wherever he stepped in, mischievous look raising as a red flag for whoever sees it drawn upon his face.
He's about to do something really bad.
Since he was a young boy, Zohaib's violence only grew more the more he enclosed another year of his life. It started slowly with squishing small bugs, torturing animals, and beating up the kids in his neighborhood to oblivion. He was strong for a little boy, and scolding only fueled him more.
Slowly getting to crimes, trickery, theft, and then murder. Killed one of his supposed to be friends just for a simple misunderstanding, and yet, he felt delighted. The smell of iron and copper dripping from his fists felt euphoric and irresistible, so he kept going until there was nothing left to punch.

"banish him! A life for a life!"
"we are better off without him!!"

Words always kept echoing in his mind, filled him with rage, anger, fury. Filled him to the brim as he swore, they'd pay back for it painfully. Really painful.

Down into a dark path, he walked, stumbled many times upon many people. And slowly started picking the ones he liked enough to join him on his journey of the lawless life. All of them enjoyed it, and followed his steps like a shadow.
Terrorised people, took them out of their homes and burned them alive. Mass slaughters and murders were a mere enjoyment for them, for him. Feeling like warm honey spilling through his veins when hearing the screams and the pleas of the people underneath his foot, begging him to set them free. But he was no good man. Nobody was safe from this man.

Taking back the path of where it all started. Home sweet home. He walked tall and proud, reeking of strong booze and blood, his blades clicking next to him with every step. As people just nervously watched him making his way to the little town's sight.

"so this is what you kicked me out for? A pathetic little dirty town?"
he said, as a very dark laugh escaped his throat and he announced the beginning of the massacre.
His men quickly on their heels as he spat out those words, turning the town upside down. Fires and screams, blood and tears, pleading and begging, yet he had no mercy left in his dark cold heart.
He watched the sight of his elderly parents begging their son to spare them, crawling and hanging into his legs. Zo just smiled widely as the blade fell upon their necks and blood splattered all over the place.

He kept on and on, going from town to town. City to another. Establishing fear and horror as he walked in, as if he owned the place. Everyone quivered under the sight of the king of bandits.
.
.
.

King of bandits, he was called. Most wanted man in the empire. He had everything anyone could've wanted, but there was always something missing. Something to make him feel a little happiness, yet there was nothing. No Form of pleasure could satisfy his greed. Not even the pleasure girl couldn't bring him a hint of the satisfaction he sought, so he beat her up. Same for anyone like her. Or even end up dead. Nobody was safe.

A little skinny man came running into his direction. His right hand man, trusty servant. He came carrying some news that are not to Zo's liking.

A bunch of people had settled down on our turf. They call their little town Kummerthal.

He was furious. How dare they step into his lands without asking his permission. They had to be punished for it. And he knew just the perfect way to do that.
Gathering all his men, sending them to spy on the intruders by troops, secretly seeped among the people as friendly visitors, but little did anyone knew the danger awaiting them. At the first hint of night sky, the town shall be banished. And the blood stains shall be witnessed with the first hint of morning sun.

It was bearing dusk, and Zohaib walked into the town. Tall and proud as if he owned the place. The clacking of his sharpened weapons on his side made a fearsome lullaby as he walked, as His aura emanated of blood, sweat and danger. A grim smile drawn across his face as he looked around the peaceful town, knowing that he’d enjoy every moment of its fall.
So he stood by, and waited for the moment to strike. Like a wolf patiently awaiting to hunt his prey. But despite all of his scheming, something was really strange about kummerthal…

They knew who he was, his life, yet they openly welcomed him and treated him as a guest. Their hospitality was all so sweet and warm, that he somehow felt it starting to break through his cold of a facade. And he slowly started to fall for it.
It wasn’t natural, he was sure of it, but it felt so calming he couldn’t help taint it. Same was for his men, they all shared the same experience he went through.
Weapons were lowered down, dropped and kicked aside. Night fell and only drinks and laughter was shared through it.

He liked the town. Very much. So he decided to make an offer to its leader. A calm and collected man that felt really soothing to be near him.

“I was planning to burn this place down with my men. But now, i came offering you to be guards over kummerthal”

And ever since, the little town he once was a threat to, became a place he could call home.

.
.
.

Years passed, and kummerthal flourished more than ever. So did Zo.
Since he stepped foot into this village, something has changed in him. He no longer craved destruction, and became determined to redeem himself. Become a better man. It’s all thanks to the influence of a simple friendship that slowly started escalating to something more, and he was too blind to realize it. Always ignored the feelings that bubbled widely inside his ribs, and hushed them up.

He repressed them for too long, and decided that once he was back from travelling, he’d spill it all out to charis. Only for him to come back to a burned down, bloodied and destroyed city. No soul or any sign of life visible in it. Walked hopelessly to the town’s sight to see the bloodied coat of charis all torn up, no sight of its owner around.

The undying army destroyed kummerthal. So he’d make sure to destroy them.

He felt as if his world crumbled, shattered and wiped off without even having the chance to protect it all. And for the first time, he felt regret, guilt and somewhat sadness.
The thought of never seeing that smile again made him hit the bottles till he was unconscious. But he had to move on, and fulfill his promise…

.
.
.

Years passed, many fell dead. Anyone who had any connection to what happened on that dark day has paid for it. Or so it was what zohaib thought. But he got tired at some point. Killing isn’t like it used to be, it felt wrong…
All the thoughts and problems eating out his mind, until he heard the rumours..

“Kummerthal has been rebuilt! Better and stronger!!”

He had to see it with his own eyes, it was too unbelievable to know, and felt a little anger since he thought it was just a cruel prank. So he marched there himself there, and there it was. Same as ever.
Two men stood up amidst the little new town, discussing some papers and plans. The first seemed much likely to be the leader, and the other was a far too familiar face. Too familiar to not be recognised.

“Welcome back home Zo!”

once again, he was back to the home he promised to protect. and watched be reborn and grew fast, flourish right in front of his eyes. but something was always missing. someone...

but days always hide surprises, when one day, a group of kids came running to him and erling, talking about the appearance of something strange in the rears of the town. both getting up, armed, ready to investigate and face if there was a threat approaching or not. once they arrived at where the stranger was, slumped face down to the dusty ground, no sign of movement.
the men carefully approached. caught by surprise from erl's scream, wo couldn't believe what he just heard the young man say.

"oh god, it's charis!!!"

something deep inside zo's chest had awakened. deep down awakened from a very long slumber.

welcome home, sweets...
