A connection to plants beyond love

Born into this clan, Fern always felt at home amongst plant life rather than other dragons. Even though she grew up with the hatchlings in Grove and Grotto, the clan's hatchery and daycare facility, a large hollow tree. She was brought up Roman Taupe in amongst the sprawling gardens and towering plants, meaning she spent more of her time around the plants than socialising with the other hatchlings.

So from a young age, she was connected to plants, her favourites being herbs. As she grew up, she left the hatchery to settle in the township in a lovely little place that had a very overgrown garden. For the next month, Fern spent every day, sunrise to sunset, clearing the garden and preparing the soil.

Fern gathered herb sprouts from other dragon's gardens who happily gave them, so her garden started small, tending to just a few plants. But soon Fern grew tired of the small crop and wanted to discover herbs from all over the world. The librarian heard about Fern's longing for help so Rina Blood gifted Fern a stunning thick book named "Herbs from across Sornieth".

That gift changed many things for Fern, most of all, it gave her a large life-long collection to fulfil. Every month or so, she would travel to neighbouring clans to trade with the locals for sprouts of new herbs to expand her collection. Soon she was traveling much further afield, seeing new areas of Sornieth to trade and even discovering herbs in the wild.

As much as her ever-growing herb garden gave her joy, she knew in the back of her mind that these herbs could be of use to the other dragons in her clan for all manner of uses. So Fern recruited help to build a large circular garden bed, split into the properties of the herbs: Healing/Soothing: Calming/Sleep: Energy: Happiness: and Health.

Fern started a journal with additional found or heard information about each of the herbs, she was discovering more information about each herb than Rina’s book could hold. Soon she had a series of detailed drawings and information about the plants in her garden which she was very proud of, so much so that she gifted the set of books to Rina and the library.

Now Fern supplies many people in the clan with herb bundles, from our Ebony Midnight as ingredients in their complex potions, to Ester Iris as calming scents for hatchling teddies. She also collaborates with the main makers of the monthly festivals to provide the needed ingredients.
