From a young age, Cypress has always been fascinated by death. Not in a romanticizing way, but he was simply curious about its process. As such, it was very fitting when he apprenticed an embalmer, helping him prepare each body for the next world, if there was a next world. It comforted Cypress to partake in such a job, as he could see quite plainly that death was a natural part of life, and he was honored to have aided the deceased into their path to the potential afterlife.
He also finds joy in knowing that he can help the grieving families see their loved ones one last time. Though Cypress is not religious, he does make a point to say a little prayer or saying to each body before he sends it on its way. He knows the bodies can no longer feel pain, but he does make a point to treat each body with utmost care.
Though he spends much of his time with other dragons, dead and alive, Cypress is actually an introvert. When he is finished with his job, and comforting the families, Cypress often wanders into the woods and simply observes the wildlife. He may occasionally take his small friend Itzii along with him, but for the most part, the woods are a wonderful place to be alone with one’s thoughts. It’s peaceful.
