Marble, the leader of the clan heard a cracking noise, followed by a small, bubbly, voice. "What was that? An egg? They are only three days old!" he thought. Marble swam down to the nesting grounds to check on the nests. Nothing seemed abnormal so he went back to his duties, not thinking much of the incident.

That night, Mud, who took the nesting grounds as his charge guarded them from Maren invasion, thought he saw a crack in one of the eggs. "I must just be tired" he mumbled as he swam to the nest. To his horror, the egg was actually cracked. It ran from it's center horizontally, spanning about an eighth of the egg's width. Quickly he swam to the shore, then flew to Luna's home. Luna was the head healer of the clan. Mud knocked on her door, and yelled for her when she didn't respond.

"What Mud?! Its the middle of the night! I need to get sleep." Luna crankily screeched.

"Its important! You have to come to the nesting grounds quick!" Replied Mud. Luna got out of bed and walked to the door. She unlocked the door and it creaked open.

"Mud, what is going on-" Luna rubbed her eyes "if you don't explain I am going back to bed".

"I, I one of the eggs" Mud stuttered, "It cracked, I don't know what happened. Ohh I failed, I-"

Luna grabbed her tools and walked out the door. "Okay, lets head to the nesting grounds and see what has happened. Maybe its just a marking?"

" Maybe, but I don't think so. It really looked cracked. Its one of the 3 day old eggs. I think it's parents are those dragons who are convinced they are made of cheese" Mud and Luna eventually arrived at the nesting grounds. Mud swam down, lifted the egg from the nest, and brought it to the shore for Luna to see.
