Biography
Umbra is a Shade dragon and a direct descendant of the Shade himself. Her home lurks in an alternate reality where the Shade has taken over the realm. If being a child of the Shade wasn’t special enough, she can see things in her environment a bit weirder than others. She can see you. She can see what you say. She can see how much her familiar loves her, and she can see ALL THE CRAP PEOPLE SAY ABOUT HER.
Currently appearing in The Emperor Camp where she is raising elemental hatchlings to replace lost deities.
Escaping the Web
Ever since Umbra was a hatchling, she could see things others couldn’t. Dragons would have a bar underneath them that seemed to show how hungry they were along with bars that would show how much a pet loved you. Umbra was sitting at a ledge with her Dwarf Hainu sitting next to her, gleaming it’s full bar with all it’s love. She would’ve loved to start petting the creature, but she was waiting for something. Something she saw everyday, but had always seemed to leave before she could catch it. Her tail thumped back and forth as the black mirror waited, the feathers on her mask wavering in the wind. The same things over and over for hours. Thump thump thump. Pant pant pant. Her eyes were growing heavy as the warm sun shone down on her, and her head started drifting. Thump thump thump. Pant pant pant. Click. Wait, what was that? She flicked her eyes open and she watched as a small cursor floated around her, making that clicking sound over and over again. It took her a moment to realize that this was the thing she had been waiting for and with that, Umbra jumped for the arrow and hung on as it swung away. Her eyes closed tight and clung her wings around the arrow in an attempt to keep her grip on the small little thing. It kept making that clicking sound and trying to shake her off. It floated up and down trying to shake her off before it flung her into the sky. Umbra took notice of the flowing air around her and spread her wings. Her eyes were still snapped shut as fear rambled around her body. Looking around, Umbra wasn’t at the clan lair anymore. Instead, she was in a large field with an apple sitting next to her. She grabbed it and inspected it, looking the red apple up and down. It seemed like a normal apple, almost a little too perfect. Umbra kept inspecting it and she surroundings when there was a Ssssssss that rang out through the air. She jumped at the sound so much that the apple she was holding flew out of her talons and the mirror quickly retreated up into the air and watched as a blue snake came barreling through the field. It was huge. The snake opened its mouth and snatched the apple, not slowing its great speed. She beat her wings and sped up to follow it as the snake ate apple after apple. Umbra kept watching and following until her and the snake reached a huge wall. The snake ate its apple and darted away, but Umbra stayed, intrigued. She easily flew up it and glided down the side. The mirror found herself flying through a temple-like place. She explored a little, finding pictures of snakes and countless door leading off, all having to do with snakes. She climbed and climbed to the top of the temple, finally finding a huge red button with an X marked on it. Umbra was never the smartest dragonet. She sometimes got her nose stuck in vases and other times she would get herself beat up by telling other kids she was more important than them because she got to wear a hat. This might have been the reason she slammed her talons into the button. The ground started to shake underneath her and she flew off in a panic and everything disappeared beneath her.
Umbra swung awake as she sat on the ledge. She must’ve dreamt all of that.. The mirror put her head between her talons and sighed. One day she would be able to catch that darn arrow..
One day..
