Biography
Lost and separated from her parents during Plague's great offensive against the Nature flight, young Maxim wandered through the Shadow domain's forests, accompanied by an ever younger hatchling, Basaltheus, whom she quickly adopted for a brother.
Their wandering and daily need to fend for themselves, alone in a zone caught between two warring flights, came to a lucky stop when they wandered slightly south, into the nesting territory of two proud new eggs' parents. It would be a lie to say the Mirrors did not hesitate to expand their family further so abruptly, but they decided to take the hatchlings in to raise them among their own. However, caring for the young of breeds not accustomed to Mirrors' migratory lifestyle nor physical confrontations meant forsaking their kind's ways and settling down in a permanent location to become the progenitors to a new clan -- something Maxim recognizes now when older, and appreciates deeply.
Hatched in a war zone and consequently raised by Mirrors, Maxim has grown up to be more savvy of direct combat than is typical for her breed. Together with Basaltheus she has been also honing her magical skills, but unlike his, her efforts are ultimately battle-oriented. She abhors the war that took her away from her home and biological family, yet sees no end to the fighting, and so what she strives for is contributing what she can to make sure that Plague will not overtake any more land during the war's course.
Nowadays, she has become an accomplished healer, and works together with her adoptive parents to one day become ready to assist them full-time with training new clan members, and future soldiers whom Shadowbinder's delegates send to prepare under the clan's wings for further military education.
interesting notes:
- accustomed to Mirrors' fighting style, Maxim relies more on instinct than her own species' fine-tuned antennae, and usually trades their full potential for protective headwear. Sometimes, though, when in need, or when it is safe to do so, she removes her helmet momentarily to let these sensory organs give her a clearer picture of the surrounding energies.
- she is fiercely protective of her "brother", seeing him as a gift in her life and viewing his elemental powers as a "light in the darkness" in the struggle against Plague's expansion.
(meta)
- her story (and in some aspects, personality) is loosely inspired by Pearl from Steven Universe, whom she has reminded me of
- one of my (Iam's) favorites in the clan ^^
