Chheu makes masterpieces of her own, ones hard to be described and even harder to evaluate. Passing her time in the forests where no one sees her, she uses needles and hooks to carve the bark of living trees. She doesn't do any harm, only slightly scarring trees of her choice with her tools, like one does with tattoos on dragons' bodies. Chheu is rarely seen near others, and it's not easy to even remember how her voice sounds. She prefers silence and spends her days and nights in the wild, looking for healthy fitting trees to mark with her new creations and sleeping on the branches. Birds and little critters tend to let her close, as her presence never evinces danger. Her special skills include creating tracery on young growing trees too, as because of her small size she can carve lots of tiny details without blurring and overlapping them, and then, as the tree grows, those designs are also stretching, distorting and changing, as if telling a story. When other dragons stumble upon such trees during their hunts or journeys, they genuinely admire those, taking mental note to praise Chheu when they see her next time, but that almost never happens.
That would be because Chheu is engrossed in something else. Once, in the darkest part of the forest, close to the mire, she found a dragon. He didn't talk, wasn't on guard and even smelled strange. For some reason, Chheu knew he was not malign, either. Slowly and carefully, as if tending to the fragile flower, she started to look after him. She taught him gestures, tools, stories about dragon society, and most of all, language. Her ward turned out to be quick-witted and learned how to speak very soon - his simple remarks about flora and innocent, pure attitude made Chheu feel needed, as if she provided him with something truly important. She named him Barkarole - after stunning black roses growing all around his swamp. Not quite experienced in communication herself, she often has to take the lead while conversing with him, feeling responsible - and somehow, it helps her to cover own insecurities, too.
