Although Zelda is her biological mother, Sayen spent much of her early life under the care of her clan’s matriarch, Silva. From Silva she learned the importance of balance in the natural world and how to maintain that delicate balance or risk disastrous consequences. Sayen despises her mother’s aptitude for enthralling other dragons, and never uses her Veilspun abilities except in life-threatening situations. Zelda resents the fact that her own daughter refuses to embrace her Veilspun nature, and blames Silva for poisoning her daughter’s mind against her. Hoping to escape from her mother’s disappointment, Sayen left her birthclan once she reached maturity and has been searching for a new one ever since. She hopes to one day share her knowledge of the natural world with others and to show the rest of dragonkind that not all Veilspun lurk in the shadows.
