Operating Room 1, Sornieth General Hospital, 11:59PM October 31st,2025

“We need a doctor, STAT!!! This coatl is bleeding out, we need a surgeon!” The paramedics yelled as a young coatl was rushed to the emergency room, covered in slashes and bites. It was obvious that the wild beasts had gotten after the young man. “I’m a surgeon, I’ve got this!” I yelled to the nurses as they helped me wheel his gurney to my O.R. I prepped for surgery and introduced myself to the victim, “My name is Dr. Nandos and I need to find out where all the bleeding is coming from. You will be put under anesthesia for this.” My anesthesiologist sedated the coatl and I began my surgery. The first thing I had to do was stop the bleeding and after opening up the body cavity, I immediately saw one source of it. His liver had a large gaping hole, that was oozing blood and if not fixed soon would cause septic shock. I grabbed some suturing needles and thread and sewed it up layer by layer until it was closed. After that I closed up the gash in the skin over the liver to protect this vital organ. As I moved up the chest, I saw a deep gash directly over his left lung and noticed his lung was punctured by what appeared to be a bone fragment. Further exploration of his chest showed me he had 3 broken ribs which is where the bone had come from. I removed the fragment from his lung, inserted a chest tube and re-inflated the lung. Then I set to work on re-aligning and re-building his rib cage through screws and plates. Finally I sutured up the wound on his chest and cleaned and dressed his other gashes and punctures. It would be a tough road but he would survive. I bandaged him up before wheeling him to a recovery room. The nurses set to work on making him comfortable and they would handle his care from there since I had more surgeries to proceed with.

Ever since the arrival of the beastclans, my job was busier all the time. More dragons were coming in with life-threatening injuries and I was the only board-certified surgeon for miles. It was my job to make sure that these dragons lived to see another day and could provide for their families. Times were tough in today’s economy and those who couldn’t make it were exalted and sent to the gods to serve them. There was a doctor on staff with me who took the medical cases while I took the surgical ones. His name was Dr. Ohm and he was a snake. He weaseled his way into every case to make sure he couldn’t swipe it before I got there. When times were slow, he would tie himself into knots just to prove that he could still untie himself. We got along for the most part and we were both good at our jobs. He helped me on a number of difficult cases like when a fellow tundra was shot by a hunter or the skydancer who flew into the power lines and cut off part of her wing. But enough of the chatter, I hear the sirens of an ambulance, my services will soon be needed, I bid you adieu.
