time and eras
time passes slowly in light filled lands. it isn't immediately noticeable to those that live there, but those within aerodan live an immensely treacle-like state, decades pass in only years for them. milchamah has been here for too long, much too long for a man that was already nearly elderly when he arrived. the yerah commune does not have such an intense connection to this timelessness but they have been around nearly as long as aerodan in an almost yin-yang synergy. khoresh feeds off of catallus' energy and power and one can walk for seemingly an afternoon and come out the other side having been classed as missing for weeks or months. the hedgelands, however, due to their closeness to the lightning lands are not bound to almost-immortality and often live violent and short lives. camulodunon is unaffected by any temporal energies and its remote nature allows for individuals to pass through and out to sea without ever even noticing the oddness of the lands surrounding their little port.

elemental magic
not everyone that is born in the light filled lands has a strong, or even average, connection to the magic that runs deep in the lands. parents eagerly seek methods of enhancing their unborn child's magical attunement prior to their birth, and apothecaries such as rania make a fortune selling herbal tonics and potions to an unknowing expectant parent. light elemental powers do not stay dormant in a child for long and as such, there's many an incident of younglings accidentally sending blasts through walls or floors. the presence of light powers is seen as a sign of luck and that the gods are looking favourably upon the individual. there are many wives tales about the child that receives no powers when born to two powered parents. cruel treatment of null individuals constantly dogs society and often bullying occurs in the schoolhouse. elders presume to judge the lives of null individuals as dull and boring because they cannot control magic, however there have instances of people transferring magical powers to nulls if only for a few hours which makes magic holders uneasy about the shift in power structure.

relationship with the gods
many of those within aerodan follow the explicit worship of the old gods, but with an ancient ancestor worship that isn't seen in any other place, except in a more recent form in camulodunon due to its immense immigrant population. the gods, however, are not listening or simply speak through their silence while individuals claiming to be them run communes or live in the forest. those in the hedgelands follow a much more brutal ancestor war god worship which seems to be disturbing to those they live adjacent to, as it is their population that the hedgelanders carry off for unknown rituals and never seem to return.
