About Fish Fish has a very important job: he's the Clan's hatchery protector. He spends most of his time patrolling the hatchery cave to make sure no hungry marens come to steal the eggs. He mostly has to give warning swipes with his claws to scare away the bold maren seahunters, although he does occasionally have more intense scuffles with the maren warriors. He's been begging Zuu for a while now to let him exterminate the school of beastclan that lives just off the southern sand shelf of their territory, but Eel always protests that they're too important to the ecosystem to get rid of. Even after a particularly violent ambush from the warriors that left Fish's torso in bandages for two weeks, Zuu said Eel was right about the benefits of keeping them around. Fish's mate, Regal, is the Head Midwife of the Sharkspirits, so it makes sense that he would be the one tasked with keeping them safe. On top of being an amazing fighter, he has plenty of experience in fatherhood as well. Regal and Fish have sat over many nests of their own; when they're incubating a nest, some of the other matriarchs step in to help out. Their love story is a prime example for young dragons to model their own relationships after. He's very humble about it, but Fish is aware that he's one of the Lair Lar's favorites. Lauren places great pride in him for his vibrant colors, going out of her way to give him the most appealing armor she can get her weird fleshy paws on. Although no one can deny his physical prowess makes him qualified for his role, some of the Sharkspirit dragons whisper behind closed doors that Lauren gave it to him because of her favoritism. Every once in a while he hears these mutters, brushing it off with a sheepish smile. Zuu the peacemaker, on the other hand, shuts the slander down every time someone is unlucky enough to yap as he walks within earshot. |
