Biography

Amethyst soared over the Shifting Expanse, wondering why he bothered to come here anymore when he wasn't carrying messages. There wasn't exactly much to see over the desert, and food was difficult to come by.
A sharp dropoff in the ground began to come into view - the Carrion Canyon. His gaze wandered over the deep crevasse as he took a path slowly turning back towards home, eventually catching on a flash of blue-green. He circled back around, searching for what he'd seen. There it was again - it looked like a dragon, but what was a dragon doing in the Canyon? Amethyst flew a little lower, the dragon coming into clearer view.
Its long blue body glinted like crystal, looping over and around itself with greenish wings patterned like those of butterflies. It looked like a Spiral, so perhaps it was asleep? He knew Spirals occasionally fell unconscious mid-action - maybe that was what had happened. Then he noticed its injuries - two wings were torn, and there was a long slice along its side. It clearly couldn't fly, and probably couldn't hunt like this, either. How had it survived this long in such a harsh environment?
Deciding to help the dragon if it was possible, he dove downward. Twenty meters away, he was abruptly intercepted by a dark blue blur that seemed to come out of nowhere, scratching and biting. Shaking it off and turning around, he got a better look at what he'd been attacked by - it was another Spiral, with metallic sapphire scales and blue-purple bee wings. She repositioned herself between Amethyst and the injured Spiral, glaring at him and ready to attack again.
"Whoa, I'm not here to hurt anyone. I'm just trying to see if I can help your friend or whoever you're defending there. They're clearly hurt, and I don't think this is a good place for them.", he said anxiously.
"...I suppose it's alright, then..", she hissed, warily moving aside. "But if you make one move to attack him, your bones will quickly be joining those littering this canyon."
Nervously landing, Amethyst moved toward the injured dragon, cautiously checking for broken bones before moving the Spiral's damaged wings out from underneath him. Careful to make no sudden moves, he checked the contents of his bags with a slight, quiet growl from the other Spiral. He didn't have anything he could use to fix up the dragon, so he'd need to bring him back to the lair where Celestria could take a look at him. "..I'm no medic and I don't have anything helpful on me, so I think we're going to have to transport him somewhere that does. I know that our medic is very good and he'll be perfectly safe there, so would you consider helping me bring him back to our shelter?"
She paused for a long moment, then sighed. "I suppose there isn't an option. I won't be able to fend off monsters forever, and every time I hunt there's a chance one will pick him off or there won't be enough food. I'll do it."
"If you're alright with telling me, what's your name?" Amethyst questioned.
"..."
"..Periander. We may as well get going. Which direction?"
They eventually arrived at the Driftwood Drag after about two days of flight, the Spiral's injuries looking worse than before. Flying more slowly, Amethyst guided her through a pitch dark, mazelike series of caves. Finally, they arrived in the entrance chamber, carrying the dragon through the tunnels to the healer's room.
Viviana paused and looked after them curiously, but did not stop them, trusting Amethyst's judgement in bringing two strange dragons into the lair for the moment and seeing that they appeared to be transporting a dragon in trouble.
Celestria glanced up when they came in, frowning slightly at the presence of so many dragons when she had a patient, before registering that one was hurt. Hurrying over, she guided the two over to the unoccupied bed, helping them lower the Spiral into it. Checking his wounds, she moved over to the shelves of supplies on the opposite wall, selecting two bottles and some bandages.
Amethyst and Periander hung back, letting Celestria work on the dragon as Periander took in the room.
It was an oblong room with smooth walls, its ceiling consisting of thick mosses woven together and supported by curved wooden beams. Indents in the floor of various sizes had been used with more soft mosses to create beds, seperated by long, dark bluish-purple leaves tied together into loose curtains. Most were empty, one occupied by the Spiral and another by a sleeping purple Fae whose scales, similarly to Amethyst's, seemed to sparkle like the night sky soaked in paint. On the other side of the room, shallow shelves had been added to the wall, and hollows carved to match, giving them more space which Celestria had used to contain a surprising amount of medical supplies.
Periander turned slightly, watching the medic apply salves and bandage cuts. Her expression was largely unreadable, but Amethyst thought he saw a slight flash of anxiety in her eyes. Perhaps she wasn't quite as detached as she acted.
