Biography

Subspecies: Paralyze
Created by: ShadowSnatcher (ID:448434)

Overview

What long ago started as a group of Banescale insurgents quickly turned into a group fighting for their mere survival. With the news spreading from local villages of their species extinction this group trekked higher up into the Cloudscrape Crags. Despite their little to no chances of survival this groups descendants have lived on. Terrorizing the locals below that dare hike up their mountain. Unfortunately with the mountains limited space many have chosen to abandon their ancestral home. Instead choosing to settle elsewhere and terrorize all of Sornieth.

Clan life

This particular subspecies prefers to live their life in solitary. Establishing a territory surrounding the den they have claimed ensures this lonely life. They are highly intolerable of neighbors and will go out of their way to ensure they have none. A den will only be abandoned if by some rare occurrence another dragon pushes them out. Although this is unlikely as a Paralyze will typically fight until death to defend their home.

If this species does choose to integrate with a clan it will be a clan with low populace and plenty of space. Just because they have joined a clan does not mean they want to be anywhere near their clan members. Instead choosing to constantly patrol their said clans borders. Ensuring no intruders may enter. In exchange for this constant vigilance they do expect many things in return from their clan, this being food and trinkets to be placed at the foot of their dens threshold.

Despite their hostile nature they do make a few friends throughout their lifetime. Strangely more often then not these friends are chatter boxes. Quite a strange sight to behold by their fellow clan members who have most likely had their life threatened a multitude of times.

Characteristics

Easily distinguishable from their cousin the Banescale. This species sports a light base of scales with darker patches throughout their body. Believed to help them blend into the side of the mountain or in the midst of a snowstorm while they observe their unsuspecting prey. Their other notable feature being their piercing blue eyes. Pray you never observe this feature as it may very well be the last thing you see.

This subspecies is classified as a scavenger. Due to the harsh conditions of the Cloudscrape Crags this species was forced to steal from the unsuspecting villagers that dare enter the mountains peaks. Over time this constant stealing developed into their scavenging nature. Now rather than steal for survival this species takes just because it can. Why waste precious energy when they could just wait from afar and reap the rewards of others.

Now stealing from others may not seem like the most appetizing option especially if said others were a group. However, by some twisted form of fate this subspecies has developed an ability they have lovingly named Paralyze. This ability allows them to freeze their opponents body in place for a maximum of 2 minutes just by locking eyes with them. The amount of opponents they can affect at once is determined by individual skill.

Species Behavior

9 months of the year this species females are constantly waging war over precious territory. Females do this to ensure that when they have their young there is an abundance of hunting grounds. Males will also spar for territory but they do not need a vast amount that a female does. Reasons for this is because during the arrival of spring females will begin allowing males to enter their territory. Males that enter will begin sparring in hopes to win the females affection. The victor is the last one remaining who hasn't fled the region.

Once the female has her young the male will remain in the females territory for protection. Constantly he will be on patrol warding off anything that may approach while she raises and teaches their young to hunt. The male will only rest at dusk to settle down with his hatchlings until midnight. During this time it is the females turn to patrol.

With the inevitable maturity of their young the male will be chased out of the territory. He will either return to his previous den or if his previous territory was claimed he will go in search of a new one. Once he is gone she will teach their hatchlings how to patrol her border. So that in 2 weeks time when she casts them out they will be prepared.

Battle

This species prefers to observe from afar so that they may determine what level of threat they are dealing with. As soon as they have determined that level they will make a direct approach. This is in hopes that their enemy may peer into their piercing eyes, so that they may dispose of them immediately. Don't be fooled by this non combative technique though, these dragons are no stranger to battle and are a formidable foe even without their ability.

There is only few occasions in which they will go for a direct approach without observing their enemy first. It is when they are patrolling their border or when they have young in their territory.
