.⟦ Willow & Rue ⟧ | #417 & #483 | Clan Role/Quote |
┌━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┐
Willow loved everything about being Nature flight, which was fortunate, considering he was born into a large Nature flight clan. Willow’s parents, however, were not Nature flight themselves. In fact, their jobs as Arcane ambassadors for the clan often took them on long trips to the Starfall Isles-- trips on which Willow was “forced” to tag along, given he was too young to be on his own. The little Pearlcatcher begged his parents to let him stay home with the clan, and eventually, once he was old enough, they agreed.
Although he loved his clan and his parents, Willow began to imagine what it would be like to join a smaller Nature clan, one in which he could have a real impact. In his birthclan, he was just one of dozens of Nature Pearlcatchers-- he didn’t feel like he had any real purpose. He longed to join a clan where what he did mattered, but there was just one catch: he didn’t want to be alone. The thought of leaving the only home he had ever known filled him with fear. Willow had met wandering travelers over the years, and always thought their lives sounded extraordinarily lonely. It wasn’t a life he imagined for himself. But then, he met a dragon that would change everything: Rue. Rue was one such wandering traveler, originally born in the Starfall Isles like Willow’s parents. Rue met Kutu and Whippoorwill during one of their visits to his homeland, and expressed interest in visiting the realm of the Gladekeeper. When he arrived, he and Willow instantly hit it off and the two quickly became inseparable. But at heart, Rue was a traveler, and although he loved Willow’s clan, he was eager to explore more of the Viridian Labyrinth. Willow was disheartened at first when he thought he would have to say goodbye to a good friend, but then it occurred to him-- what if he didn’t? Traveling the Viridian Labyrinth with Rue meant he wouldn’t be totally alone, and it would give him the opportunity to join a new, smaller clan, just like he wanted! Rue was just as thrilled as Willow about the idea, and the two set off together the very next day. They had no idea what lay ahead for them, but at least they would face it together. |
