Eximie

Havokelle was scouring the coral, enjoying the pulsating tentacles and waving threads as the organisms coaxed food to them, their demeanor deceptively flimsy and nonchalant. The Guardian enjoyed how they glowed and brushed against fish too big to eat, everything flowing together in rhythm, in harmony, in hypnotic cohesion... Which made it easier to catch the sudden interruption in that flow, a chunk of coral jutting forward like something beneath it had kicked it forward. Upon closer inspection, Havokelle discovered it was not a piece of stone, but a coral and barnacle encrusted egg that had somehow been half entombed by the reef itself. She was taken aback at first, but she suddenly saw an eye peep through the darkness, and that's when she felt the click. Havokelle had discovered her Charge.

Eximie unnerved everyone when Havokelle took her back to the Clan of the Deep Echoes, but nobody understood the true magnitude of her presence until they saw Lakrae's reaction. The Imperial took one look at the mysterious hatchling - the first Gaeler the clan had laid eyes on - and yelped, jumping back with eyes as wide as moons. The only one that appeared calm (if a little shaken) was Bralinas, who announced with the utmost surety that Eximie's appearance was an omen. Whether it was for good or bad, she could not foresee. At first many, such as Blair, Murk, and even Vaukria, wanted the strange hatchling gone, thinking her a demon for all her alien appearance. Leikan almost listened to them, until Havokelle stepped in and announced that if the clan would not accept Eximie, then she would be leaving as well. This had considerable weight, and was only made heavier when Shinari and Bralinas backed her up, the former because Eximie was only a hatchling, and the latter because she believed Eximie needed to be closely monitored. Eventually it was agreed upon that she was allowed to stay, though most still watched her like a mad spirit ready to possess someone.

Eximie possesses a level of quirkiness that has dulled clan member's paranoia of her. She is quiet and has a habit of staring, but gives a warm smile has a voice that is oddly calming. She has little interest in gold and gems, though she has expressed interest in artwork, and has become an adept illustrator. She has made anything from cartoons that make everyone laugh, to abstract scenes that look foreboding and cold. Few feel they can truly loosen up around her though because, for all her shyness, she has moments where she seems to know more than she should, or is more perceptive of events than even the clairvoyants are comfortable with. Nonetheless, while she has grown close to her adopted parents, she has become friends with Shinari and Arakodu, the former because she is kind and listens, and the latter because they both seem to intrigue one another. She is one of the only clan members that does not consider a single other member a rival, much less even an annoyance, though some like Murk and Blair would label her as a creep that needs to be watched regardless of how innocently quirky she appears now.

She is undecided about the Maren population and what the clan should do with them. She listens closely when the subject arises, maintaining a deadpan expression that is impossible to read. She asks questions about them but does not surrender the root of her curiosity, and it has frustrated many that she remains quiet on an issue that has been ever present since the clan's existence. Some have noted, however, that based off what they can glean from her line of questions, how attentive she is of the discussions, that she has the aura of someone sizing up an opponent, searching for weaknesses to exploit...
