Maelwas

"Listen to the Winds and Nature... for they may tell what you seek, no matter how unwelcome...."

For all his sternness and intimidating armor, Maelwas is a curiously gentle soul who seeks little and most often his own company if he can help it. A scout and warrior, this Coatl who allegedly slew the beast he now wears for armor, makes good use of his dark coloring and his musical chime he'd received as a gift from a Wind dragon for all manner of things:

His grim plumage makes sure he's harder to spot even in daylight when hiding amongst foliage while his chime is meant to sound off much like a lure for prey, simple beasts made curious by the strange noise until it's too late for retreat... for then he has you. The flowing currents against his feathers, giving him its direction and any scents upon it, and Maelwas uses all caution in moving forward. After all, those he hunts have the same mobility as him in their own hope of survival.

All knowledge of forests, the earth and its terrain are rarely forgotten once this cunning dragon knows enough to begin a hunt yet knows not to be too confident else it's his last. Such a notion has kept this dragon literally on his toes for an age now, wary of any foe that might have the strength and cunning to fell him instead. Until then, his gloomy coloring, strong armor, enchanted chime and even the strange magical Fireflies that swirl around him are all he needs for his tasks as a guard and huntsman for his clan. Knowing well on where to find the best herbs and shrooms for cooking and medicine, where certain beasts of fair health and meat can be tracked, and so on.

The only dragon who seems capable of getting him to be in the open is his mate Freya, whose own works usually keep her pretty occupied until the need to eat gets her to drop everything and seek out most anything to fill her belly. You need not guess who usually provides her snack, though he might have a quiet wish the food would go toward them having hatchlings but like any decent hunter, he's more than willing to wait.
