Onyx

Onyx was naturally a hunter. Despite going out everyday to look for food or dig a bit, he always felt a pull towards the forest where he went hunting with his clan. It took him a while to realize it, but once he did, he always went out and brought back extra food for the dragons of the clan. Sometimes there would be too much that they would have to bring some to different clans, or else it would get rotten.

When he first starting going out into the forest, dragons noticed him, so when he went out, they would ask him where he was going. Then, realizing they were suspicious, he started wearing gear and brought a basket to hold the plants he sometimes found so it would look more like he was hunting.

When he was out, animals wouldn't notice him until he was right next to them, grinning down at them, because his gear camouflaged him. The gear he wore was passed down from generation to generation, father to son.

Then, one day, he met someone in the woods, also hunting. He stalked her as she hunted for the whole day, then as she left the forest to a cave nearby. He followed her, and watched as she quickly stoked a fire, placed a spit with the meat stuck through, and washed the greens she gathered. He was just about to barge in and ask who they were, when she looked up and saw him. Her eyes widened, and she backed up against the wall of the cave. Frowning, he walked into the cave, and asked them why they were on the clan's territory and why they were so scared. She responded in a shaking whisper, saying that one of his fellow clan dragons had killed their mother. Frowning deeper, he questioned her until the pieces came together.

"I think I know who it was that killed your mother," Onyx said slowly. "I think it was my clan leader." And in response to her incredulous look, he said, "She was possessed. By Darkhunter. He was a dragon that was evil inside and out, and somehow he managed to possess her. From what we know, he killed a skilled fighter and stole his spirit, then brought our clan leader- Anonymous- into a dream. The fighters spirit fought and defeated Anonymous, and that spirit, in control of Darkhunter, took over her body. Then he made her do unspeakable things that caused chaos and the feeling of insecurity everywhere. He exalted many dragons that shouldn't have been exalted, and killed many dragons. Thinking of him still makes me shiver, even though I wasn't born when it happened. My parents were though, and they told me the horrible stories." Realizing that her mouth was open, she closed it, then said, "I'm so sorry... I didn't realize that was happening to your clan."
