Mimi is a jester hat possessing(??) a dragon. It loves laughter. It used to just tell its jokes to whoever put it on, but that had a low success rate (instead of laughter the wearer usually screamed in horror, tried to burn the hat, and ran away), and only being able to tell jokes to your wearer doesn't make for much of an audience.
So it's now a dragon somehow! Is it possession, did it grow the dragon, was the dragon even alive when the hat began wearing the dragon? Nobody knows! Possibly not even Mimi, actually. It is still a hat.
And a hat that doesn't have that strong a grasp of humor, at that. Think old corporate memes, or a two-year-old just learning joke structure: it doesn't really get what's funny, and it doesn't want to plagiarize so it just says random things a lot. Like:
"Knock knock!"
"Who's there?"
"BEES!" Mimi then laughs uproariously. Occasionally at this point in the joke, depending on the reaction, Mimi will release a huge swarm of bees. (This stunt tends to have mixed reactions depending on whether or not you're watching from afar or the proper audience.)
Will absolutely do slapstick and take dangerous audience requests out of naiveté. Fortunately, it is very sturdy (more so than any dragon or dragon-adjacent creature has any right to be).
