Nekita

Once upon a time, Nekita was the promising leader of a growing new lair. She was young, and optimistic, and clever, and lead her people with grace and dignity. She and her pride thrived in the harsh, toxic desert that made up the scarred wastelands. At their highest point they were 30 members strong, and had the potential to flourish into something great. That was before the beastclan ambush wiped out all but seven of their members.

There had been a drought that season, and the dragons in Nekita's lair were sick and weak from hunger. Nekita had been smart enough to keep a food reserve in store for situations like this, which helped keep the worst of it at bay, though five dragons still perished. However, she was not clever enough to realize she should keep it under wraps, and the local beastclans, who were also starving and struggling underneath the weight of drought, found out. Seeing an easy target in the hunger-weakened dragons, they stopped warring amongst each other long enough to plan an ambush against her pride.

Nietoi's party of explorers happened to be nearby at the time of the ambush, and rushed to the lair's rescue as soon as they realized something was wrong, but by the time they got there there was hardly anyone left alive to save. Nekita and six other dragons (Wit, Blue, Cleo, Nimh, Hunt, and Nameless) were the only survivors. After an experience like that, Nekita understandably has qualms about ever leading a lair again. For now, she lingers like a ghost around the outskirts of Nietoi's lair, at least until she gets up the courage to strike out on her own once more.

Nowadays, Nekita is a solemn, quiet dragon. She's haunted by her past mistakes, but still does her best to provide and look after the few remaining members of her lair. She's found something of a friend in Nietoi, and sees a lot of her younger self in him. She has lots of valuable advice and experience for Nietoi to draw from, and he sees her as an advisor, of sorts. Nekita, meanwhile, finds comfort in being able to help a fellow leader avoid making the same mistakes she once did. It's a cold comfort, certainly, but it's something.
