On cold wings he's coming You better keep moving For warmth, you'll be longing, nightingale. Pyry is a dragon as regal as his name. Once, he wore beautiful silks and jewelry. He wore a nice cloak and set high among the well respected members of his clan. And he was so happy. He workws among the council in his flight. Where he is often seen as the stern judge or the fierce warrior, whilst his long since dead mate , Emrys ,was quiet and inquisitive. Many of the dragons of the lair who have troubles they don't want to bring to an open court come to him. He also does much to keep the lair running smoothly, organizing the gathering parties to ensure that there is always enough food for their feasts, bargaining with the traders who might come by, and ensuring that what needs to be done gets done. It's best to remember that despite her usually slightly more peaceful demeanor, he is as accomplished a warrior as his mate, and as ruthless and cunning in battle, wielding his fearsome magics as he strikes fast and true. Although he grew up in the Earth domain, a land of thick, hot weather and humid heat, something in him always yearned for the chill of ice and snow of the home land he originated from. So when a handsome stranger arrived in their domain, silent, smelling of winter, and seeking a mate in the place his deity had guided him to, he was intrigued. But as he had no intention of taking a mate who was unworthy of him, he put him through his own round of tests once he'd determined that he too was interested in her.He tested his prowess in hunting, fighting, and flying, but too he involved him in arguments to see how he would settle them, and sent him to retrieve treasures that required cunning as well as strength to win. Finally, he challenged him to a race on the wing, and allowed him to catch up to him as they reached the finish line. Recognizing his symbol of acceptance, he showed her how much Epithet valued him by asking him aloud to be his mate, and letting his proposal burn onto his wings. Just as they finished Pyry's last challenge to him together, so they took all the changes together, ruling as equals. That was ,until his mate was taken from him by war with the beast clans. This is when his stability began to go downhill. He left the council. He left the clan. He shut himself out from those who attempted to help him, and set off to live in a deep cave long past the borders of what was once his clan. There he has been living in silence. Only every stirring to leave when he needed more food and the such. Losing his mate tore him. Broke him in every way imaginable. This is when he declared war against the beastclans. He vowed that he would get revenge for the loss of Emrys. On the day his mate died, his heart did too. Pyry began practicing magic. Day and night, he stayed in that cave practicing. He had to perfect this skill if he wanted to have enough power to defeat those who opposed him. Screams and shouts could be heard from the cave at any hour. Just as well as there were often lights flashing from inside the cave. And one day, he finally left the cave for good. Cold, so cold. His bones never seemed to stop aching. It was as if every ashen piece of his body was rebelling against him, begging him to just lay down for once. But his pride kept his belly warm, and that was all Pyry needed. He planned to find the beastclans that did such a horrible thing to his mate. He wasn't going to stop moving until he had found them, and slain them. Traveling over the cold north was tough on his body. His scars always seemed to ache in new places each day, and he would remember how each made its way into his flesh: A battle against the beast clan harpies. A fight to the death against a young Guardian. A turf war against another flight. Each of these hurt differently. The hardest days for him to take were always when the scar above his eye began to throb. A very old friend had left it there.
