Biography

Scintilla
The Window, Isolde's Window
she/it

curious • elegant • expressive

The building Isolde uses for her studio has three levels, with each floor possessing a cutaway section against the eastern wall. These gaps serve to allow for a tall, uninterrupted window to extend almost the building's full height, and this window is filled with a beautiful stained glass image. The original glass is long gone, having shattered long before the Lanternlight Clan even existed, and the new window is Isolde's proudest creation.

The window depicts the clan's village, showing rows of lanterns strung between buildings and the sun rising over a blue ocean in the distance. Isolde's original concept sketch seemed too empty, a problem which was remedied when Permafrost suggested she add a dragon. Not wanting to favor any of her clanmates over the others, she added in a golden Skydancer whose features resembled none of the dragons she knew. But there was one problem: Lacrimosa.

Isolde's bitter rivalry with Lacrimosa was cause for major concern, as there was a very real possibility that the divaesque Nocturne could break Isolde's grand creation - and as far as Isolde was concerned, she'd probably do it on purpose too. So Isolde traveled to a library in the Starfall Isles, where she learned of a spell that would make something indestructible. It was perfect, a wonderful solution to Isolde's problem.

The spell wasn't meant to be used by someone with nature magic coursing through their veins, however. Somehow, Isolde's magic mingled with that of the spell, and the dragon in the window came to life. She has since been named Scintilla, and although she can't leave her window she can move about inside it, altering the colorful panels as she does. She reveres Isolde, her creator, and although she can't speak her admiration is clear as day. Her creation has also led Lacrimosa to (grudgingly) respect Isolde, although she'll never admit it.
