Nova

Throughout her life, Nova has gone through many changes to become the drakaina she is today. She tends to the Nesting Grounds these days, paying specific mind to the rotation for the community nest. Those dragons nesting on their own - with partners either not in the picture or busy elsewhere - tend to rotate out their role as egg warmer while other single parents feed or hunt, making the community nest an effort of several individuals from vastly different backgrounds. Nova usually remains in the community nest herself to keep the peace and serve as a defender to the eggs in case of emergencies.

Originally, she had been brought up learning the ways of the stars by her father Polaris, who used to keep a book detailing the fates written in the stars for each dragon of the lair. This was back when the Clan still had smaller numbers, and soon became a task too arduous for a single dragon, which is why he had the hopes Nova would one day continue his quest.

Nova, however, only did so in her youth. For a while she did follow her father's teachings and even began the construction of an observatory. Several other dragons joined her in her study of the stars, as well as some experts on other forms of divination and reading the fates. But as the years passed, the many young dragons coming to them to learn of their destiny inspired Nova in turn. She wanted a family.

Her mate Cygnus had been wishing for hatchlings as well for a long time - as he loved caring for eggs and young dragons - and so they took a break from their work to start a family of their own. But it seemed as if the other dragons in the observatory had a similar idea, so that, by the time they returned, the observatory was near abandoned. It stood empty for many decades after, only to be recently repopulated by a family of Aether's who transformed the abandoned building into a family home.

They decided to close it for good, and the few dragons who remained made a new home of divination tents, which later grew to become a popular Carnival. Nova and Cygnus moved to take care of the Nesting Grounds from then on, organizing the nesting schedule and occasionally going back to their roots to divine an unborn hatchlings fate or offer advice to nesting dragons.

Sadly, her mate Cygnus eventually moved on to another clan - and presumably, a new mate. Their separation was amicable, but some of her children still dislike her talking favourably of him.
