Biography

A devoted professor, not shy of field work like his fellows. His research nearly consumed him.

Boreas is a professor from the Frigid Sanctum, who wishes to study and catalogue the shifting of the ley lines in the Southern Icefields. He joined the Arctic Heart on their travels for protection, as traveling alone in the Icefields is dangerous, and joining a nomadic clan would be the safest way to complete his research.

He has no stake in the conflict between dragons and shades, only concerned for the future of Sornieth and all its inhabitants due to shifts in energy in the ley lines in recent years, and has sworn not to disclose who he travelled with when he returns to the Sanctum.

Before joining the Heart, Boreas's research led him into a terrible accident; while taking readings from a particularly potent ley line, the ground beneath him split along the line into a mile-long rift in the Ice, sending him plummeting into the magically-charged chasm.

When he awoke, he was staring up at a sliver of sky, the sheer icy walls of the rift stretching many yards above him, and his wings and stomach, crushed beneath him when he fell, had been transmuted into panes of ice.

It was a painful climb back up, and an equally painful realization, back on the surface, that his wings no longer flew; whatever arcane, icy infection had spread across his body in the ley line's rift had permantly transmuted parts of his body to stiff, heavy ice.

Boreas shudders to think what might have become of him if he'd slept any longer in the chasm.

Now, he always carries an ice pick strapped firmly to him, so that he'll be able to escape more swiftly if it ever happens again.
