It begins with water running through the earth, carrying minerals and sediments along for its journey, eventually reaching its end, where the ground runs dry and warm, and the water is carried away into the air, leaving behind a precious white stone...

Carved with careful claws, and the endless patience of the Earthshaker, smoothed with the rushing water of the Tidelord, brings forth dragons made of glistening white marble, given life with a fleeting spark of magic.

These ancient dragons, because of their stone bodies, grow damaged and cracked over time. Needing a way to repair themselves, lest they crumble into chalk for good, the marble dragons discovered a use for molten gold, the ore being malleable and easy to use, while also able to withstand the wear and tear of their daily activities.

They call themselves Kintsugi.

A common misconception is that the idea behind this practice is that people are more beautiful because of their cracks. If you were to ask any one of them, however, they would tell you this:

"The idea of our traditions; repairing ourselves with gold so as not to fall apart, is not that value comes from losing a piece of yourself. We value our history, and remembrance of what our scars represent. We are not beautiful because of our cracks, but because of the endless amount of learning, work, patience, and love it takes to heal them. To keep ourselves whole."
