Legato

Slowly, smooth motions, move from one step to the next. The words repeat over and over as she weaves her way between the trees, allowing her feet to settled into the leaves with each step before she shifts her weight into the next movement. She knows this path, this trail through the towering trees, she knows how to hunt. Her eyes find her target between the underbrush, the unknowing deer oblivious to her careful advances. She wants to rush forward, to burst out from the foliage and take her kill, but she keeps her pace, she moves with the grace she taught herself. Steady, steady. She is almost atop it before she strikes, lashing out with her jaw between the overgrown plants, tearing into flesh and putting the creature out of it's short lived misery with a quick twist of her head.

The thick scent of blood rolls up into her nostrils but she ignores the urge to dig into her kill, she ignores the ache in her jaws from having to hold still. Steady, steady, you know when you're ready. She breaths out, letting the air ruffle the fur that hangs from her jaws, turning her head back towards home, back towards her. The mate she promised she would take care of. It's a long road walking into the sun.

Her feet carry her back towards home, back towards the familiar scent of a mate, her mate. Legato knows the way home.
