Tayuya was part of the Sound Four. She was an prisoner of Orochimaru but survived a fight to the death against other prisoners, proving herself to be among the strongest prisoners of Orochimaru.
Later Kimimaro became the leader of the Sound Four, renaming them into Sound Five. They assisted Orochimaru with assassinations and similar missions.

Tayuya feared Kimimaro, knowing that he was stronger than her, but showed an arrogant behaviour towards enemies whose strength she did not know yet. She didn't care about her team and insulted them regularly.
Like her other teammates she was branded with the cursed seal and able to control it, gaining a boost in strength, stamina and endurance when releasing it. Her special ability was her demonic flute: when playing she could controll the Doki, three ogre-like creatures, and perform sound-based genjutsu.
She was killed in a battle against Temari.
