Jittery and easy to scare, January's seemingly unhinged nature is of no fault of his own; instead, the blame is associated with the time he spent serving under the Plaguebringer's domain, an experience that nearly broke him. Escaping his fate as one of her minions —a rare thing for a dragon to do —left him without a sense of purpose and disturbing memories of what he'd seen among her ilk.

These days, January believes his anti-social behavior is doing his cohort a favor, fearing that The Plaguebringer would return one day, to take back what is hers.

Very few understand the impact The Plaguebringer's influence has had on his psyche, and even less knowing that it happened, October being the only soul January has ever opened up to. Her acceptance of his eccentrics allows him to let his guard down, taking refuge in her wistfulness that synergizes well with his own.

His tendency to hyper-focus on individuals leads him to a co-dependent friendship with October, a near obsession he fears further perverts his questionable mental health.
