Mamba is not a typical snapper, which is a good thing for living with clan Tuulikki. Most snappers wouldn’t be able to keep up with a clan that’s frequently on the move but Mamba can. While landbound, like all snappers, Mamba is exceptionally quick on the ground, almost able to keep up with wildclaws. He barely slowed the clan down on their move to the Viridian Labyrinth from the Windswept Plateau.
The source of this uncharacteristic agility is, of course, magic. Mamba is a shaman, and a powerful one at that. He can channel the power of air to make himself lighter and faster. Another unique feature that Mamba possesses is the ability to produce a powerful poison. Many of the plants that make up a snappers diets have trace amounts of toxins in them. Using his shamanistic powers, he can extract and concentrate these toxins to be released as a breath attack. He rarely does so, being non-confrontational like many of his species. But if he’s cornered and the situation looks bleak, he can unleash it upon his enemies and cause them to flee. He also tends to use magic more than physical strength.
Mamba sometimes gets lonely and restless, being the only snapper of the clan. By nature, snappers prefer to follow migratory routs with their own kind. But Mamba feels an unswerving loyalty to Raine, who found him injured and abandoned by his former clan. She nursed him back to health and invited him to stay. And though the migration called to him, he had no desire to find his old clan nor to continue on by himself. So he stayed. He alleviates his restlessness by taking long trips to forage and fish. He can cover nearly as much ground as any other dragon of the clan and can carry much more than anyone else.
Raine values him highly for his skill, both in gathering food and in defense. If the clan were ever attacked and outmatched, the clan could retreat into the cave and Mamba could single-handedly defend the entrance. An entrenched snapper can outlast almost anything, and the whole clan can rest easier knowing Mamba’s around.
