Deep below the museum lies a maze of shelves and drawers packed with mysterious and fascinating items. It is not available to the public, of course- its contents are not protected from wandering hands, folks could easily lose themselves in its twisting turns, and the things which walk its halls do not like strangers.

The archive is a dangerous place to be, for those who do not know its secrets. For those who do, its dangers become simple annoyances, the long-legged beings mere pranksters. Orville knows its secrets better than anyone. Even the other museum employees dread visiting the archives. Orville, though, is perfectly comfortable down in the depths. It may not seem so at first, as he's usually terribly anxious, but he takes the archive's strangeness in stride, almost calmer there than on the surface.

Orville is, of course, the archivist- he knows where any item you may need to see sits, any old book or untagged skull. He has a little office next to the foot of the stairs, with a vast desk (usually lost under a thick layer of papers), a comfortable chair, and a collection of protective items to keep the dwellers away. He places new arrivals and arranges for cycled items to be put on exhibit or returned to their shelves below. With his fractal eyes, he can peek into the archives to locate things, make sure nothing disturbing is hanging around said shelf before going there himself.

He is usually found at his desk, scribbling away with a tattered quill. his fur is scruffy and ill-maintained, his many eyes wide and attentive. A pair of glasses sits low on his snout. Even with his impressive scrying abilities, his true vision is rather weak. He's heavily tattooed- some are protective sigils, some have some deep meaning, but most are simply art he enjoys.
