Biography

Uh-oh, looks like this violet flower wandered a little too far from her lair (95765, xxNiks), and now she's off to see the world! If ever you feel the urge to exalt, she'd really appreciate it if you could just return her home instead, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here.

She's the first to slip out of the clan and make her way out into the world, searching for her long distance mate, Arcturus. But eventually, the dragons of Clan Mellori are always called home again. Let's see what she can see before the call becomes too great to ignore. She hopes to see all of the continents before that day comes, so she might better know where Arcturus has wandered off, that daft thing!

A few kilometers from the most central crossroads of Sornieth, Vega ran into a very attractive nocturne named Vayle. The two of them instantly felt a connection, and a brief, but intense, period of courting ensued. It wasn't entirely easy, figuring out what nocturnes like, utilizing her own body language to communicate the right symbolism, but in the end they shared a cozy evening together - Vega even got a kiss on the cheek! She couldn't help but to wonder if it wasn't cheating, in one shape or another, but found that it couldn't be - what she felt for Vayle, wasn't at all the same as what she felt for Arcturus. This, this was more of a tickling sensation in the stomach, somewhere.

Nevertheless, she thought it wise to, after two weeks of courting, tell her friend about her long distance mate. The reaction was... not good. And the two of them went separate ways.

No longer than one month later, Vega ran into trouble. From a distance, she bore witness to a dragon getting robbed by a scummy group of Serthis primitives. As she was too weak herself to help, all she could do was to watch from where she was hiding up a tree, hoping she wasn't next.

She learned two things from what she'd seen: The Serthis was by far the most brutal of the beastclans she'd ever witnessed - not that she'd seen many - and Serthis do not leave anyone to tell the tale. Once the snakes had made their way back into hiding, the dragon they attacked moved no more, and as Vega approached the lifeless Fae, she could see the lost one wasn't breathing anymore.

She left in horror - hindsightedly, she wished she could've taken the body with her, in case she'd run across the fae's clan, but at that moment, she didn't even want to touch the corpse.

Vega didn't make it very far until she was discovered in the open, shaken and feeling rather unwell, until she was discovered by a Bogsneak who had been out hunting. Descent, as he introduced himself, seemed quite concerned with her condition, asking her where she was going and if she would like him to escort her to wherever that might be. Politely, Vega turned down each offer, but when he insisted, she found herself being quite relieved.

She explained that she was searching for her mate, Arcturus, and explained what he looked like to Descent in hopes that he might have seen him- he had not. She explained what she had seen, and why she was upset, leaving out the parts about Vayle, something she wasn't sure she could deal with for the time being. Right now, she just wanted a change of scenery, the golden and pale yellow hues of the Sunbeam Ruins were begining to make her feel sickly.

Descent had escorted her to the edge of the Sunbeam ruins, the two of them having spent the better part of a day together, joking and telling stories. Before bidding each other farewell, Descent gave her two parting gifts to keep her warm on her journey.

Vega touched down in the Plaguelands, hesitant and hoping to Icewarden that Arcturus was here- but also hoping he wasn't. This land was toxic; twisted. She gingerly trotted over the landscape, giving her tired wings a short break. Suddenly, she noticed an abrupt change in the feeling of the ground beneath her claws. Looking down, she spied a trapdoor. She scooted off to the side, and hauling it up, jumped down into a cool-feeling drafts within.

After a short descent deep into the ground, she landed in a tunnel. Further down she could see torches along the wall, and far in the distance some sort of structure. She trotted towards it, and eventually came up to a cheerful tundra in armor who was guarding an enormous wooden door that filled the tunnel. After exchanging a few words, he pulled the door open, and she passed into the Namesong Clan's den. She quickly found the travelers' quarters, and there she rested.

When she awoke, she asked after her mate- after all, judging by the size of the travelers' amenities, quite a few passed through here on a regular basis. It took nearly all day, but after having asked every dragon that she found, her answer was still a resounding 'no'. None had seen her mate.

Still feeling more rested than when she had arrived, she left the way she came. Her mate was still out there. She would find him.

After landing in a different section of the plague stricken land, her journey continued. She was exhausted from the flying so she took to walking. She still held her head up in search of any dragons or any life form that wasn't riddled with disease. The sun has set that night and she had now where to home for the night. Vega recalled a boneyard with large bones and decided, with what left of her energy, she would built a hut from the mammoth sized bones. Her sleep was restless and terrible that night for the noises kept her awake. The sun rose and blasted heat on to the waste land. A young Fae saw the body of Vega, limp and thin. She rushed over to help the poor girl. A Guardian soon followed the Fae and together they placed Vega on the guardian's back. Vega felt the wind comb through her claws as they flew off into the sky.

Vega woke up to a smile on the face of a massive guardian. A small breeze was present and brought with it an aroma of plants. Vega could hardly speak but felt very rested. The Guardian spoke in a language Vega couldn't understand. Finally a small voice spoke out, "Where do you come from traveler?" She looked around the room to spot where the voice originated from. To her surprise it was a young fae with big pink eyes. Vega then coughed a bit and then proceeded to tell her tail. She spoke highly of her mate and how much she longed for him. The fae and Guardian looked at each other after her sad tale. The fae began to tell Vega of her life tale, the tragedy and the triumph. Her name was Benji. The Guardian then told her story. Her name was Claxton. They both agreed to help as much as they could, but they told her she would be on bed rest until her body had adjusted to the plague ridden air. Vega was okay with the fact and drifted back into sleep.

The next day she woke up feeling much better and ready to face the world once more. She thanked and hugged both Benji and Claxton, waved good bye to the other, spread her wings and flew off, letting the wind take her.

Above the Scarred Wasteland, Vega spotted a distant plateau. Lush, green, and welcoming, it was the opposite of the savage landscape she had inhabited for this most recent leg of her journey. She hoped against hope that, just maybe, this beautiful land held her beloved Arcturus. Dodging thick clumps of towering reeds, Vega landed gingerly atop a lofty cliff. A soft breeze fluttering her wings, the dragon paused for a moment to admire the gusty lands of the Windsinger.

The peaceful moment was interrupted by the echo of shrill laughter. Vega peered beyond the cliff's edge and was delighted to see rushing rapids below. It seemed that a trio of dragons had each flung branches into the water and, now flying above, raced to see whose twig would advance the fastest in the rushing current. Vega realized that she was smiling. For the first time in a long while, she had found reprieve on her arduous journey. The dragon soared from her perch, racing to join in the fun.

The dragons introduced themselves as Evremonde, Clovis, and Sangryda of The Flickering Tempest Coterie. They were the warriors of their loose little clan, but their training was anything but dull. Rather than drills, the team played games to refine their abilities. They were eager to have another player to join in the day's activities. Vega raced alongside them, struggling to keep pace, but feeling exhilarated by the challenge.

As they all stopped to rest for the evening, her new friends asked why the traveller had come to the Windswept Plateau. Vega reminisced about the lovely days she had spent with her mate, and stressed her desire to be reunited with him. She explained that, as much as she had relished the carefree adventures of the day, she could not bear to be parted with Arcturus for much longer. She knew that she must soon continue her search.

A few days later, the time came for Vega to embark once more. Her friends tried not to seem too distraught, but it was clear that she had touched them in an unforgettable way. They exchanged quick hugs and promises to keep in touch, but Vega thought she saw a tear on Clovis's cheek. Evremonde, always a gentleman, patted her hand and wished her well, his features carefully composed. Sangryda promised, in a falsely chipper tone, that if Vega ever returned for a rematch, she would be ready. Then the three proffered a surprise. After a recent victory, they had collected a Mirage Puffer. With his coloring and temperament, they knew instantly that he was destined to be Vega's familiar. Brimming with emotion, Vega took her new familiar, thanked her friends for the memories they had made together, and bid a tearful goodbye.
