“They are but an affliction of the flesh. My sight runs deeper than what makes me.”
“Are you not in pain?”
“It is of no importance.”
“But you neglect yourself. You waste away in here.” He gathered his daughter close to himself protectively. “Can you even stand anymore?”
“I do not need this body.” Providence intoned. “True existence is higher than this base form.”
“Please, sweetie.” Her father choked. “Think of your mother and I.”
“You grieve what is not, father. I am not defiled like my siblings. I am still here.”
“Then you must promise me that you will not let yourself be consumed by your gift.”
“Yes, father.” Providence agreed.
“I love you, sweetie.”
“I love you too.”
