When Waypoint settled in the Hewn City after the harpy attack, it became clear to the clan leaders that they needed fighters. While many in the clan were strong and capable, most had no choice but to stay away from battle. Driven by the desire to protect their clan and take back their home, Kintyra and Raleigh traveled the continent looking for warriors who would fight for them.

Their search took them to the Windswept Plateau, where they encountered Quill and shared their plight with him. It was a case of mistaken identity; Quill shared his name with another Imperial--a warrior known for his victories in battle. The Quill the Founders had found had never raised a claw against another in his life, but when he saw their desperation, he chose to keep his mouth shut about the mix-up.

Quill returned to the Ruins to see the devastation exile had wrought on the clan, and it broke his heart. Though he was petrified of combat, he resolved to become the warrior they thought he was, and help Waypoint take back their home.
