Biography
Officially, Purple is a botanist, although ‘botanist’ tends to be code for ‘keeps the plants alive so nobody dies of suffocation or starvation’. Purp tends to be a very sarcastic and grumpy character.
Purple has an enormous number of missions under her belt, and has seen so many brutally mutilated corpses to the point she’s gotten desensitized to them. For some reason- possibly some combination of her calm demeanour, the flower she always wears, and the fact she’s often singing or humming quietly (it’s to make the plants grow better, okay?!)- she finds herself collecting Mini Crewmates (children) whenever their parent dies.
Purp complains, but she’s used to it by this point. She typically will act as an adoptive mother until the crew is able to return to Earth, when she hands them over to an unofficial organization she’s part of to either be returned to their families or adopted permanently.
Purple isn’t particularly good at susing out imposters- she tends to leave that to the rest of the crew. The only times she catches imps is if either she sees them vent, or kill someone, or if their children slip up while she’s looking after them. If they kill, she’ll report it, but venting or a child’s slip up will typically result in a private conversation that has somehow never resulted in her death.
She really doesn’t care about the Strexx- Human conflict, and adopts imposter hatchlings just as readily as human children (read: easily, but with much complaining). Due to a series of coincidences and a show of faith, Purple actually does know the location of the Strexx homeworld, and frequently sends Strexx young back there whenever she gets the chance without MIRA noticing. There are several Imps out there that refuse to let her get hurt due to her sending back a sibling, cousin, or friend’s kid.
As well as being desensitized to mutilated corpses, Purple is even more apathetic to being bitten by Strexx hatchlings. Her arms and legs are peppered with scars from old bites, and she’s actually feeling the side effects that result from injections of Strexx venom- namely, sharp teeth and claws, and later improved night vision. Humans can’t become imposters, of course, but Strixx venom can cause other lifeform’s biology to change slightly to vaguely resemble them, in order to make it harder for other lifeforms to spot an imposter. This is happening to Purple, and she does worry her a bit, but she’s managing.
While most Crewmates tend to have a general crew they keep each mission, Purple is more of a loner, bouncing from group to group every 1-3 missions. She never stays long enough to get attached to someone platonically, and identifies as both Aromantic and Asexual.
While Purple could actually land on the Strexx homeworld by calling in a favour after returning the hatchlings, she has no interest in becoming an ambassador due to a visceral hatred towards politics.
