O' Captain, My Captain
They/them Questioning Cursed with Feelings they're trying to bat away with a metaphorical broom, unfortunately that has no effect like trying to use a normal move on a ghost type Pokémon (sorry bud) Captain of the Sentinels, but does not consider themself the Lord of the land
In a way, they are a parent-comfort figure for the younger Sentinels
Secretly collects ships in bottlesKnown for using their voice mimicry talents when gathered with the others to recall the dragons they all once served Wip wip Plot notes: First to welcome the new lady of the land (Naja) Overseer of the sentinels, regarded and treated their leader, though not in the sense of a lord Grows horribly smitten with Naja relatively early on Hides their affection in an attempt to remain professional Etc etc Aesthetic/Look Notes: Matches the skin for the most part Wings, dewlap, and cracks glow from the ice magic powering them |
WIP WIP WIP While Captain had not been the first attempt of an inorganic servant, they were the first to be deemed as a success. Built in honor of the general who went by the same nickname, they were tasked to assist with the duties that the sea loving nocturne could no longer do themself between old injuries and a growing weakness. Unfortunately such a breakthrough had not remained untainted. As engineers and mages worked on the next sentinel, the general finally succumbed to their illness. For the following weeks, Captain went unresponsive, often only moving to visit the gravestone of their once-living counterpart and remain there as an unmoving gargoyle. Mourning, some speculated, though it had always been debated how sentient enchanted stone could truly be... By time Captain first spoke, they had several companions made of the same magic as the one that granted them life. And, to many's shock, their voice had a bone chilling similarity the late general's. Then they went on to parrot one of the enchantresses which put some ease into the dragons when they realized it had only been the 'nocturne' doing what they do best; mimicry. A trick to play as part of their nature. Even if they had no heart and no true consciousness as far as the others had been concerned. Though as more sentinels were built as unresting assistants for the castle and its land, a failsafe had been put into place should any of them go rogue like their prototypes. Captain, and all those after them, were bound to the land they had been built upon. And should the stony creations revolted against their creators, then all they had to do was retreat beyond the boundaries of the Lord's domain and strike them down where they stood. |
Only the failsafe would prove to be the clan's downfall as an unknown sickness suddenly and violently swept through their ranks almost overnight. Every dragon made of flesh and blood could barely walk, much less travel beyond the limits of their home to find a cure or call for help. Captain and the other sentinels had done all in their power to take care of their masters, yet they were ultimately helpless to watch each and every dragon wither into nothingness in mere days.
With no lord or master to serve, Captain worked with the others to put the dead to rest, then retreated into the depths of the castle in another wave of grief. For years, they done their best to keep the castle clean of debris and vermin. And--one by one--their fellow automatons grew dormant. With no leige, they had no purpose. No reason to continue their repetitious tasks when it served no one beyond themselves. Silence coated the clan's ruined land for countless months as the news of the plague kept dragon and beastclan alike away from the enchanted sentinels. For a moment in time, the castle had been nearly entirely still except for the occasional prey animal. By time their guest had arrived, Captain was one of the few who remained active. |
